LittleBigPlanet Karting Announced For PS3
Sony Computer Entertainment has announced LittleBigPlanet Karting exclusively for PlayStation 3. It’s being developed by United Front Games (of ModNation Racers fame) with help from LittleBigPlanet creators Media Molecule.
Sackboy returns in a completely new adventure where your fast-paced karting will save the Craftworld universe. Get behind the steering wheel and get ready to race through fun-filled tracks, discover unlockables in open-world environments and battle in karting arenas filled with pick-up items and LittleBigPlanet-esque weaponry.
“Our goal with LBP Karting has been fairly simple – provide a fast-paced experience that captures the best of classic karting gameplay, married with the unbridled creativity of LBP. This new adventure will be accessible to players of all ages and have all of the variety necessary to satisfy both the hardcore and more casual players,” said James Grieve, senior producer at United Front Games in a PlayStation Blog interview.
Here’s the first LittleBigPlanet Karting trailer.
Personally I think the world can always use more Mario Kart-like games. While the gameplay’s fun level will decide how good the game will turn out, it looks like they’ve got the right focus on both an Adventure Mode and Multiplayer racing. Multiplayer modes look to be featuring online, as well as local play with up to 4-player split-screen. Nice! Especially when you consider they’ve added in 3D TV and PlayStation Move support.
