Takashi Iizuka, producer on Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, has said that Sonic Team has no plans to release more episodes in the future. So Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will be the last in the download-only series, unless the folks at Sega change their minds.
To quote him: “We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode. We just want to see how the users accept this episode.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 is set to be available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, iOS, Android and Windows Phone in May 2012.
With no future episodes we’re not likely to see Knuckles make a playable appearance.
