The Dutch Sony-exclusive developer Guerrilla Games are well-known for their Killzone first-person shooter games. So the following Killzone 4 hint shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans of the multi-million-selling series.

At a Game Developers Conference 2012 panel about their art process, Guerrilla Games’s Studio Art Director Jan-Bart van Beek confirmed they are currently working on three different projects at the same time. Two out of three are Killzone projects, one for PS Vita and one for PS3!

    Guerrilla’s projects are:

#1. Killzone Vita, in development together with Sony Cambridge Studios.
#2. Killzone 4 or more Killzone 3 DLC, as they said to be “continuing the Killzone franchise on the PlayStation 3.” At this point, a sequel seems like a shoe-in.
#3. A new game IP, one that’s not in the Killzone franchise. It was suggested it’s 1 of these 3 genres: zombies, werewolves, or Ghost in the Shell.

Here’s the exciting Killzone 3 launch trailer to the tune of “The Vines – Get Free”.

May 2012 Update: Sony’s recording a teaser for a future Killzone game, most likely Killzone 4, which is said to take place after the events of Killzone 3. The teaser’s lines are rumored to be written for the Helghan Aurarch Visari’s daughter. The description reads:

“My sons and my daughters, today we take the first step toward our imperial future.

For years, this once-great nation has stagnated in the shadow of its enemies. Governed by scoundrels who flaunted the ideals established by my father, these traitors… these enemies of our race have diluted and exploited the triad of Duty, Obedience, and Loyalty.

This regime, this corrupt regime, has been dissolved. In its place does rise an era of stability and strength. A time of opportunity born from a promise that we shall return our people to their proper sphere of dominance.”

What would you like to see added to Killzone 4?

I would like to see a Killzone Game with a more hard-science fiction feel to the setting like the original game had.  Yes, it had futuristic technology like the hover bikes and stuff, but it was tasteful and creative, and most importantly, it fit the world well.  Whereas Killzone 3 had that hokey laser gun, and those corny giant robot dog things.  I also miss the secondary fire on all the weapons like in the first one.  Spawning with a shotgun or grenade launcher on your gun for emergencies was really helpful.

I haven’t played Killzone 3 yet but I really enjoyed the first one and 2 was pretty awesome as well. I’m not very happy about the Vita title not because of it being for the Vita or anything just that I feel its a waste of Sony Cambridge’s talents, rather than helping with this they could instead be used to develop MediEvil 3. A game that shock horror isn’t an FPS. I really enjoyed the first two games but found the Psp game lacking. I can’t help but imagine what another game in that series could be like especially considering the graphical capabilities we have today, it could look like a Pixar film :) .

@a3026de8b2966d86f50ffe09581df335:disqus : Good idea for them to look at the original. And you really have no reason to worry about hover bikes being too futuristic. That actually sounds kickass, plus any game with jetpacks and hover bikes gets an automatic thumbs up! :-D

@8c364bb201a1d65671670955c22054d8:disqus : Agreed on letting internal developers diversify genres instead of sticking them on sequels of the same game. But I think it’s the sequels that down the line allow the devs to try new IP’s some of the time (or in this case 1 out of 3 times), they need some success first before that can happen.

Oh and they put a Killzone 3 campaign demo on PSN, you should definitely try that out, it’s what I did before buying Killzone 3. Recently they even split the multiplayer modes from the main game as a free downloadable, so if you’re into that… well, you can’t beat free! :)

I genuinely agree on the Idea from another comment of going back to the first ones idea of having secondary fire, It just added a whole new dimension to Killzone all together

      - Spy should be able to copy snipers as well… at the moment they can’t.
      - Snipers should be able to place more mines to balance the missing support of robots (droids, turrets etc.)
      - More vehicles (bikes, jeeps)
      - Bazooka are too easy to gold medal
      - None should be able to hide into his base.
      - Spy could have an invisible drone beside
      - Snipers should be able to place traps or mines without flashing lights
