First of all, the combat involving the paradigm shift remains basically the same, but Square/Enix has added a cinematic for boss/mini-boss battles where you must follow the correct sequence on the screen similar to God of War’s quick-time event button presses. I applaud this because it adds a sort of action-feel to the game. Another thing I noticed the nice addition that Square did with every character in the game has a voice over, and they aren’t reused. If Square did re-use voice actors for NPCs they did a darn good job of hiding it, and I’m pretty good at catching that sort of thing. I wish I had the money to buy it right now, but sadly I can’t afford it right now, but at least I can justify adding it to my Blockbuster@Home queue to play it. I save a ton of money renting games for a flat monthly fee instead of buying them. After hearing all the rave reviews I decided I couldn’t go wrong by giving it a try, I can’t wait until it gets here.

Someone has described XIII-2 as feeling alive, whereas FFXIII felt lifeless and dead and I have to agree.
