Here’s a production update for Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, the animated feature film currently being created by BioWare and FUNimation.

FUNimation will air episodes of this animated series based on the BioWare action-RPG games sometime in 2012. Same story for the feature film Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, which is set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray later this Spring.

The story: “The sun rises on a thrilling new era in Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker — the first feature-length, animated addition to the Dragon Age world. In the land of Orlais, a brash young Seeker — Cassandra — fights to stop a blood-soaked conspiracy. Hidden hands seek to tear apart the realm’s most powerful religious order, and as the sinister plot unfolds, Cassandra is accused of treason and murder. Hunted by friend and foe alike, the impulsive beauty must clear her name while clashing with corrupt Templars and rogue Blood Mages. Should she fail, the executioner’s blade awaits. Should she overcome her rage and expose the unseen forces threatening the rule of the Divine, Cassandra will take her place in legend.”

Voice actors:
* Actress Chiaki Kuriyama (Battle Royale, Kill Bill, The Sky Crawlers) will play the knight heroine Cassandra Pentaghast.
* Singer/actor Gackt (Supernatural: The Anime Series, Sket Dance) will play a Knight-Commander and sing the movie’s theme song.
* Actor Shosuke Tanihara (Pokemon: The Movie: Black – Victini and Reshiram, The Sky Crawlers) will also play an unannounced role.

Production team:
* Dragon Age’s Jeffrey Scott wrote the film’s script.
* Daisuke Nakayama (Tweeny Witches) designs the characters.
* Tetsuya Takahashi (Appleseed, Halo Legends, Resident Evil: Degeneration) composes the music.
* Koji Kasamatsu (Afro Samurai, Appleseed, Halo Legends, To) is the sound designer.

Same here! I quite enjoyed the animated movies for Dead Space, not to mention Dante’s Inferno. That last one already mixed in CGI elements, but this Dragon Age animated film takes it all the way. Should make for a good viewing! :)

I know there is an animated movie to Final Fantasy. Why not Kingdom hearts.

It’s nice to see games making animated and live action films. When they succeed they bring new fans to the series. How do you determine what the story of the animation will be and use it in a way to bring in more fans and not displeasing the ones that have already played the game?
