The action role-playing title developed by Mistwalker and AQ Interactive, will be hitting European retailers early next year!

The Last Story will feature traditional RPG gameplay and story elements but will also add many modern twists to the formula. Players can customise items and characters, and master the innovative combat system to succeed in this epic new RPG universe.

The game will be available in Europe exclusively on the Wii on February 24, 2012!

In case you thought the boxart shown above looks like that of the Final Fantasy series, it’s no coincidence. Mistwalker’s boss, Hironobu Sakaguchi, is the creator of the Final Fantasy series!

Players will take on the role of Zael; take charge of a band of mercenaries and journey with them through an epic and cinematic adventure. Master a deep combat system in action-packed battles, and compete or cooperate with up to five other players in online battles. Witness, too, a visually stunning world and unearth the secrets of an island as part of a gang of mercenaries.

      Indeed.

I think it’s kind of awesome European Wii owners are getting The Last Story from the creator of Final Fantasy at the same time Final Fantasy XIII-2 gets released on PS3 & Xbox 360 :)
