Key Features of Sly 4: Thieves in Time

Here is a list of key features that will be available in Sanzaru Games’ Sly 4: Thieves in Time based on news and announcements made so far.

Demonstrations of Thieves in Time show it using similar mechanics as the earlier games in the series. As a platform game rendered through cel-shading, the player controls the master thief Sly Cooper, equipped with a cane, and can run, jump, and perform melee attacks on enemies.

Collectible Costumes
A new feature of the game is a variety of collectible costumes earned thoughout the game. The costumes can be activated and imbue Sly with varying sets of abilities. The player, after collecting these costumes, can also go back to previous levels and use these to unlock secret areas or complete the level in a different manner.

In-Game Compass
It has been revealed that there will be a compass to help players locate their objectives throughout the hub world.

Safe House
The safehouse has some new features as well which include:

  • A treasure wall – this wall shows off any treasure the player attains from certain challenges. Unlocking certain numbers of treasures will give access to new features and bonus content.
  • A costume gallery – this gallery shows off any costumes the player has collected, and also has the option of wearing the costume.
  • Calling Cards for the main characters. On the table, Bentley and Murray have visible calling cards identical to their insignia

Environments
Environments are “twice as big” as the previous installments, mainly due to them having many layers. Feudal Japan, Ancient Egypt and Wild West worlds have also been confirmed.

Confirmed Characters
Several characters will be appearing in Sly 4, the line-up will include:

  • Sly Cooper. The main character in the series, in this game he has both a backpack and a legpack.
  • Bentley. Bentley is back and is “definitely playable” in Sly 4!
  • Murray. Murray is also playable. Accroding to Sanzaru, he has been “buffed up” so players can get a sense of his enormous strength. He will also be more mature than in previous titles.
  • El Jefe. An in-game boss, he is A ruthless smoking dictator and will be voiced by Nolan North. He appears to be a tiger with lightning and fire powers.
  • The Collector. Two pieces of artwork revealed this brand new character. Seen and confirmed in the Comic Con trailer, he is the game’s primary antagonist.
