Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition Announced

A Diablo 3 special collector’s edition was officially announced and detailed at BlizzCon 2011. Diablo 3 will be released in early 2012.

Along with the announcement that you can Get Diablo 3 For Free With Yearly World of Warcraft Subscription, Blizzard also revealed the contents of the Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition along with the official box art.

Here is what the Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition contains:

1. 4GB Soulstone USB Drive.
2. Collectable Skull Base Figure.
3. Full copies of Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction contained on USB Drive.
4. 208-Page(!) hardbound artbook.
5. Diablo 3 Soundtrack CD.
6. The Making of Diablo 3 Behind-the-Scenes Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
7. Exclusive in-game content.

You also get the following extras for other Blizzard games by purchasing the Diablo 3 CE.

Diablo III – Aesthetic Artifacts: Call forth glowing angel wings, unfurl an exclusive banner, and dye your armor sets with the Bottled Cloud or Bottled Smoke items.
World of Warcraft – Fetish Shaman Pet: Journey throughout the World of Warcraft with the fetish shaman at your side.
StarCraft II – Battle.net Portraits: Display your status as a hero of the mortal realms with an exclusive army decal and three Diablo-themed Battle.net portraits.

If you want to pick up the Diablo 3 Collector’s Edition, you just may have to get up from behind your PC and head on out to a brick-and-mortar retail store! Yes they still exist. The Diablo 3 CE will be avaialable exclusively at retail on DVD-ROM for Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 and Macintosh. Of course, there’s always Amazon (natch).
