PS Vita Game Prices Reveal Downloads Are Cheaper

PlayStation Vita videogame pricing has been revealed for the Japanese market. But more importantly digital games will be cheaper than retail titles these prices confirm.

Every PS Vita game will be available day-and-date at launch in both digital form via the PlayStation Network Store as well as in physical form at stores. The likely U.S. price though is reported by retailers to be $40.

Here is a list of the Japanese and suspected Western prices for PS Vita games in retail and digital form:

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Retail Price: ¥5,980 / $78 / €57 / £50
Digital Price: ¥4,900 / $63 / €46 / £40

Hot Shots Golf 6 (Everybody’s Golf 6 in Japan)
Retail Price: ¥4,980 / $64 / £41
Digital Price: ¥3,980 / $51 / £33

Ridge Racer Vita
Retail Price: ¥3,980 / $51 / £33
Digital Price: ¥2,980 / $38 / £24

Katamari Damacy Vita
Retail Price: ¥4,980 / $64 / £41
Digital Price: ¥3,980 / $51 / $51

All three of these gamees will launch alongside the PS Vita in Japan on December 17.

Disgaea 3 Return – ¥ 5,177 ($67)

Blazblue Continuum Shift – ¥ 5,083 ($66)

@Field – ¥3,990 ($52)

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom – ¥4,800 ($62) and Download – ¥4,300 ($56)

Sangokushi TouchBattle – Free Download

Lord of Apocalypse – ¥5,980 and Download – ¥4,980

Army Corps of Hell – ¥4,980 and Download – ¥3,990

Dark Quest Alliance – ¥ 2,899

To be honest, I might stay away from the Vita until it has really proven itself. Sony kind of let the PSP flounder, and it wasn’t a cheap console. IMHO Sony needs to really make a push with the vita for some top notch games and good content, or risk losing out like they did with the PSP too…

For me the must-have game that might make me pick up the system at launch is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. But I’m worried I’ll play that for 6 hours and then what?

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with another Super Monkey Ball, Katamari Damacy, LittleBigPlanet & Ridge Racer game when I never finished the ones on PSP. That said, I AM very excited for the new Assassin’s Creed Vita game and Lumines: Electric Symphony!

I agree with you as well. But hopefully Sony has learned from their mistakes with the original PSP. Making games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and others cheaper digitally than at retail is a big step in the right direction. I do think the PS Vita has a pretty nice lineup so far though. You can bet that will be followed with lots of RPGs and all Sony’s big names.

Really its awesome and graphics are no words to say on that. actually i like puzzle games like Apple life but this game is attracting me.Apple life is a free app available in Appstore.

Looks great, day 1 purchase for me, plus it has trophy support which the PSP never had. Now on my travels I can stay in the trophy race with my friends.

booommm, hefty price for me…!!! Already $50 to $60 is too much for me on PS3 and steam.

i better be on itouch. I will think of buying one when its cheaper, may be 3-4 years from release.
