The 3DS “Circle Pad Pro” attachment (also known as the Second Circle Pad Add-On) was officially announced and revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2011 during Nintendo’s pre-TGS ’11 Press Conference where details were posted online.
It will be released in Japan on December 10th, 2011 at a price of ¥1,500 or a full $20 bucks. Originally it was reported that the 3DS Slide Pad Expansion would be bundled with Monster Hunter Tri 3G, which releases day and date with the add-on in Japan, but it’s unclear if that is still the case.
Batteries are included with the Slide Pad which will require one AAA battery to power the device. However the Slide Pad, which features a second Circle Pad and an additional trigger button, will only work if games are specifically built to use it.

1. Monster Hunter 3G
2. Resident Evil Revelations
3. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D
4. Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble
5. Dynasty Warriors VS
6. Kingdom Hearts 3D
7. Monster Hunter 4
Games that support the Slide Pad in Japan will feature a specific logo that shows the 3DS with the Expansion Slide Pad attached.
No word on when the Expansion Slide Pad for 3DS will be released in the West or what the name or price will be.
