With the release of LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 on the horizon, here are some early story details, which we can expect to see in the newest installment!

The new game is based on the three books (and four films) that resolve the Potter franchise, leading to the dramatic final battle with Voldemort. While not a direct movie tie-in, the game goes hand-in-hand with the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The game will also feature new characters and locations, including Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, Godric’s Hollow and Malfoy Manor.

Check out the Godrics Hallow trailer!

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Professor Lupin and Sirius Black have all been updated to match their appearances from more recent sets.

Years 5-7 follows the Harry Potter story as it all starts to get more sinister, and people find themselves strolling headfirst into death and destruction more often than they’d like.

“In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, we’re giving gamers a truly epic conclusion to the most successful movie franchise in history with delightful gameplay for fans of all ages,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We’ve built upon the first game and are giving fans even more magical abilities, puzzle solving and exploration, in addition to our distinctive brand of hilarious LEGO humour and charm.”

The game will feature new characters and locations, including Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, Godric’s Hollow and Malfoy Manor.

I have the first Lego Harry Potter game for Wii but, since buying, playing and bloody loving that game, we’ve bought a PS3…

So, the question is – should I buy Years 5-7 on Wii on the off chance that there’s a link between the games (the way there is with the Lego Star Wars games) or get the game on PS3?  Help!

While it doesn’t always matter, I’d go for the PS3 version that has HD graphics.

To be fair, at the rate these Lego games are being released, there’s always the risk of game-breaking glitches showing up in any version, but in the first Lego Harry Potter it was the Wii version that was glitched most of all because it doesn’t have online patch updates, luckily the PS3 version does allow for patches after release to fix problems, so I’d say it would be safer to pick up the PS3 game.

It looks like all regions will be getting the game between November 15-18 now, so there’ll just be a few days in between releases. Not too bad of a wait :)

Thanks Ferry, I’m probably enough of a fan of the Lego games to buy the first one again for PS3 and play it all again anyway!

      Cheers
