With the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the horizon, here is a list of characters we can expect to see in the fifth installment!

Set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion. The king of Skyrim has been assassinated, civil war has broken out amongst the native Nord race. But in the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened.

Let’s take a look at the confirmed characters of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim:

Dragonborn

A Dragonborn is someone who is born with the soul of a dragon, meaning that they have been given a gift by the gods. The Dragonborn (or Dovahkiin, in Dragon Tongue), is the player character in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Arvel the Swift

Arvel the Swift is a Dunmer thief found trapped in a spider web during the Bleak Falls Barrow quest. Arvel has a raspy voice, similar to a Dunmer from Morrowind. As soon as he is freed, he attempts to escape through the dungeon. The Dovahkiin is after him because of his theft of a Golden Claw. In the demo the Dovhakiin catches up to him and drives his sword through the thief’s back because he is a coward, according to Lead Designer Todd Howard.

Alvor

Alvor is a blacksmith. He lives in the Nordic village of Riverwood. He is seen sharpening an axe in the G4 demo.

Camilla Valerius

Camilla Valerius is a female citizen of Riverwood. Her brother, Lucan Valerius, also resides in Riverwood. she was first confirmed as appearing in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in a PC Gamer Article.

Children

Children have been confirmed as appearing in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They appear as they did in Fallout 3, thus cannot be killed or knocked unconscious. 2 of them were seen next to a dog in the quakecon Demo.

Esbern

One of the last remaining Blades – the powerful order of knights and warriors that for centuries served as the bodyguards of the Septim Dynasty Emperors, and were known as the eyes and ears of the Emperors in Tamriel – Esbern is naturally a warrior of great skill. Esbern is the mentor, guide, and advisor of the Dovahkiin (Dragonborn).

Gerdur

Gerdur is a character that the player over-hears talking to an Imperial Guard.[

Lucan Valerius

Lucan Valerius is a male citizen of Riverwood. His sister, Camilla Valerius, also resides in Riverwood. He is primarily the Quest giver, however, if he dies, due to the Radiant Story, it can be given by his sister, Camilla, instead.

Whiterun Guard

These guards, as their name suggests, guard Whiterun and the area around it.
