This Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi preview gives a quick look at what can be expected from Spike’s versus-fighting game!

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, known in Japan as Dragon Ball: Ultimate Blast, is a video game based on the manga and anime franchise Dragon Ball. It is developed by Spike and will be released by Namco Bandai in Japan on the 25th October 2011, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Namco Bandai has also announced the game’s release in American on October 25th and October 28th 2011 in Europe.

The enhanced Story of Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi immerses players in the Dragon Ball universe, including bonus levels from movies and the Dragon Ball GT series! It will also feature a free-roam type of gameplay similar to the Story Mode of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2.

Key Features of Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi

Here is a list of key elements that will be available in Spike’s Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, based on news and announcements made so far.

Character Customization
Ultimate Tenkaichi includes a special mode which allows the player to experience a brand new “Complete Character Creation & Customization” feature. Attributes such as model body, face, hair, attire, and fighting style can be customized. Additionally, fighting style and special moves can also be moulded.

Story Mode
The “enhanced story mode” is designed to immerse the player. Fifteen animated scenes with bosses are included. Great Apes and other giant characters, such as Janemba (First Form), up to 15x the size of playable characters are featured in boss fights and/or cinematics.

    The character and environment graphics will be upgraded; characters are drawn straight from the original series to match the anime series, something the developers aim to help create a true Dragon Ball experience!

    Budokai Tenkaichi-style Controls
    The controls are designed to bring the overall experience closer to the previous Budokai Tenkaichi series, making the play accessible to all, but retaining all the tactical depth in battle. Improved mechanics allow for faster long-to-short range fights. The gameplay also includes elements from the Budokai series, such as Quick Time Events during specific combos. There is also an added health recovery system.

    “Impact Break”
    The “Impact Break” system allows large-scale environment destruction. This includes realistic craters and Kamehameha tracers cutting across the sky!
