GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Release Date Confirmed

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is set for release on November 1st, 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Just in time for the holiday season!

Reloaded is a remastered version of the hit Eurocom-developed GoldenEye 007 for the Wii. The game was itself a kind of remastering of the hit GoldenEye 007 released by Rare for the Nintendo 64 way back in 1997. A game that set the world on fire.

This modern re-telling is not actually based on that game, but is based instead on the 1995 GoldenEye film starring Pierce Brosnan. However since the Nintendo 64 GoldenEye title is considered one of the most fondly remembered First-Person Shooters of all time, GoldenEye Wii basically tried to emulate that beloved classic while adding to it, with the excuse that this game was based off the movie… therefore Eurocom could do the same things the Rare game did without infringing on copyright. Right?! Right.

The result was a very well received and critically acclaimed FPS that effectively updated the Rare classic for the modern era. Pierce Brosnan was replaced with Danielle Craig (the modern-day Bond), the levels were more intricate and evolved, more of the movie was covered with new stages and areas (missing in the N64 game), and all of the multiplayer fun of the ’97 classic was included, both offline split-screen multiplayer (just like the 90s!) and online play. The game effectively emulated the style of Rare’s classic in split-screen multiplayer, with the same characters, stages, modes, weapons and wealth of options, and followed the single-player of that game close enough to satisfy both fans of the Rare masterpiece and people who had never played that game. All with tons of new content layered atop and a drastic visual upgrade.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the Wii game, entitled GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, up the graphical fidelity from the Wii’s low-res quality to high-definition standards; while also increasing the polygon count, beautifying the partical effects, and smoothing out the framerate to a solid 60 frames per second. In addition to looking better, the online multiplayer now supports 16-player online play instead of 8 like the Wii version! And of course, this new game has Achievements to earn on the Xbox 360 version and Trophies to earn on the PlayStation 3 version.

One of the biggest new features though with Reloaded comes from a number of new missions for players to tackle, these are collectively called MI6 Ops Missions and they will give players of the Wii version some all-new content to sink their teeth into!
