Tim Willits spoke to Eurogamer about increasing first-time buyer incentive and free DLC’s for upcoming game RAGE!
Rage is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by id Software and takes place in a post-apocalyptic world similar to the verse created in the iconic Mad Max films.
Players take on the role of a sole survivor of an Apophis meteorite impact. With no memory of your identity or objective, players are forced to head for the surface to find sustenance and allies.
In an interview with Eurogamer, when asked about Online Pass, Tim Willits revealed that DLC’s will be free when players purchase a new copy of Rage. He stated that, “If you bought the game new, that [sewer hatches] would be open for you. You still have to download it, but you don’t have to pay for it. Those hatches are all over. Most people never find them. But as soon as you do, you’re like, oh. And then you start to look for it. That’s our first-time buyer incentive.”
When Eurogamer expressed worry that these features would be broken up in future, Willits replied, “as long as you buy Rage new you get everything free. We’re not taking stuff out.”
Rage is due for release on October 4th (US) and 7th (EU) 2011!
