Dishonored Announced: Created by Bioshock 2, Half Life 2, & Deus Ex Talents

The first-person shooter, “simulation” video game, developed by Arkane Studios, is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2012 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360!

Harvey Smith, known for his past work on the Deus Ex franchise as well as Thief: Deadly Shadows, and Raf Colantonio, who worked on Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and the level designs of Bioshock 2, are the lead designers of Dishonored. What’s more, Half Life 2’s designer Viktor Antonov will also be lending his talents to the environments of the game!

Check out this interview with Viktor Antonov as he shares details on the game!

The player controls Corvo; once a bodyguard for the Empress, he seeks Lord Regent who framed him for her murder. The player can roam The Isles as well as the distant Pandyssian Continent in this open world game. However, the core location in Dishonored is the steampunk city of Dunwall.

We currently know that the game is a first-person shooter, but emphasis will be placed on stealth-action and the utilization of gadgets such as traps.

Lead designers Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio have described the game world as a “simulation”. If the player encounters a group of thugs, they can be fought off, but the thugs themselves exist within the game verse, rather than randomly spawning at a location. Therefore, the player can encounter this group ahead of time to prevent criminal acts they may or may not attempt.

Further coverage of the game will continue on the Game Informer magazine’s website throughout the month of August.
