Mortal Kombat Legacy Release Date Announced for the TV Show Blu-ray

Mortal Kombat Legacy Blu-ray has been announced by Warner Bros. This Blu-ray set collects all of the 9 webisodes from the made-for-Internet TV show based on the Mortal Kombat series; granted with quite a new spin.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Bluray will be released on November 8th, 2011 at a price point of $20. Mortal Kombat Legacy DVD version was not announced, but one would assume the WB will also release the show for the much larger DVD audience.

The show was was birthed out of an insanely violent and brutal Indie-spin on the MK series called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which used a list of cult B-actors directed by Kevin Tancharoen. This video gained over 1 million views on youtube, and acted as “pilot” of sorts to convince the WB to allow him to create a new spin on the Mortal Kombat universe. The rest is history, as WB allowed him to create the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webisode series and he was a runaway digital hit on the web, with over 12 million viewers on youtube across the 9 episodes!

Thankfully, new supplemental material will be included on this Bluray release, and it includes the following:

I think this is awesome. I didn’t get around to watching the webisode series, and I love supplemental material, so this is pretty much a must-have in my humble opinion.
