Borderlands 2 Details

A metric ton of new details on Borderlands 2 have been revealed thanks to Game Informer, which featured the game as their coverstory.

So much info in fact that it is easiest to break it down into smaller, simpler to digest chunks. Which is what I’ll try to attempt in this massive list. The game will be released during 2K Game’s fiscal year 2013, so some time during the second half of 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Here are all-new details on the game:

  • Every weapon from the original game has been thrown out. All-new weapons will be made for Borderlands 2.
  • Co-Op remains limited to just four-players.
  • The four characters from the original are now NPCs.
  • New bodies for players to overtake replace the old players.
  • Weapons can be enhanced with custom decals and other add-ons.
  • Enemies are more varied and AI has been improved.
  • NPCs will interact with each other more.
  • Expect more enemy interactions with one another.
  • The very large, tough-looking guy previously revealed is named Salvador, and is a “Gunzerker” who has the ability to use any two weapons at once.
  • Story missions are more dynamic.
  • The future of your character may be shaped by the dynamic story.
  • For example, fail to arrive on time for a rescue mission, and your destiny will be altered.
  • A new element has been added known as Eridium.
  • Eridium is used as both currency and to improve stats for weapons and vehicles.
  • Bandits have access to specific types of weapons.
  • Gun manufactures now have their own style and personality.
  • Temporary buffs as seen in the Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC will be features of some weapons.
  • The skill-tree makes use of a three-branch system like Borderlands 1.
  • More variety in the vehicles.
  • Size and scope of the game has been greatly enhanced over Borderlands 1.
