Now for some Grand Theft Auto V news and rumors. During a financial conference call from Take-Two Interactive, they revealed that Grand Theft Auto V may be launching in 2012.

According to rumors as reported by 1UP, Grand Theft Auto V’s development is apparently “well underway” and on track for a big push next year for the title. Which is “pretty likely” they say.

At the conference call for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 (April 1, 2011 through June 30th), Take Two revealed that they have a loss of $8.6 million compared to last year, due to the fact that L.A. Noire, which sold well, could not match the unbridled success of Red Dead Redemption. A game that has now sold through an astonishing 11 million units (includes “sold to retailers”, not necessarily consumers).

However Take-Two states that they expect to make money on the critically panned Duke Nukem Forever, and revealed that digital sales from Take-Two games are more profitable than ever. Gaining the company a net revenue of $24.6 million, a 48% year-on-year increase for DLC.

Because of these reasons, it would make a lot of sense for Take-Two to launch a Grand Theft Auto V during this fiscal year. That would make up for the loss that they took.

And despite having a number of big games ready to launch in the 2012 fiscal year (like Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands 2), launching Grand Theft Auto V would secure the deal for them.

Note that Grand Theft Auto V is still technically unannounced, so we’re just assuming it’ll be coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. Take all of this with a grain of salt until the game is actually revealed.

Hopefully Grand Theft Auto V will look even better than this realistic mod for the previous installment! Looks insane huh!
