Star Fox 64 3D American Release Date Announced

Star Fox 64 3D will be released in America on September 9th, 2011 exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.

This is an unusual release date for a Nintendo game, as Nintendo titles generally release on a Sunday, making Star Fox 64 3D’s release date of the 9th, a Friday, highly unusual.

However there’s a heck of a good reason for it. Nintendo chose to move the release to Friday to avoid releasing Star Fox 64 3D on September 11th. Good call.

The 3DS version of Star Fox 64 adds online cooperative play (including support for voice chat and the ability to see your opponent using the 3DS camera), as well as remade graphics that are upstead with glasses-free stereoscopic 3D effects, and the ability to control the game using the 3DS gyro sensors where you can move the system to play instead of using buttons. Naturally, the game also uses the touchscreen.

Star Fox 64 3D marks the SECOND Nintendo 64 remake for the 3DS following the critically acclaimed and high sales of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D which released on June 19th.

Here is a new Comic-Con 2011 trailer for Star Fox 64 3D.

Update
The game will also hit Europe on September 9, 2011 and will be released in Australia on September 15th, 2011.
