Battlefield 3 mod tools won’t be available for launch. Maybe never

Battlefield 3 will not include mod tools at launch, when the Battlefield 3 release date of October 25th hits, so says publisher Electronic Arts. And they may never come.
This will be disappointing to some, particularly those PC fans, who expect to have mod tools available for their PC shooters and were hoping to be able to create their own Battlefield 3 experiences as soon as possible.
The reason has to do with the complexity of the Frostbite Engine so says EA.
“Well, as of now, we’re not going to make any modding tools, no. If you look at the Frostbite Engine and how complex it is, it’s going to be very difficult to mod the game,” he said. “Because of the nature of the setup of levels, the destruction and all those things, it’s quite tricky. So we think it’s going to be too big of a challenge for people to make a mod.” Sounds like a dare to us!
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not they do add them later down the line. Should mod tools always be available for games, despite their complexity?
Here is the interview in which this is revealed.
