Minecraft has reached a couple of new milestones that are unheard of for Indie titles. Especially ones that have technically not even been officially released yet!

Minecraft has surpassed 2.5 million “units” sold and earned over $33 million for developer Mojang according to Minecraft creator Markus Persson via Twitter. Yowza!

As was recently revealed, the world is about to get much more Minecraft in official capacity as well. At E3 2011 MineCraft was announced for the Xbox 360 in an exclusive Microsoft deal that will see the game being released this holiday and supporting Kinect. No word on whether or not it will be a retail title or a downloadable. Although a download would seem to make more sense.

Additionally, Minecraft is in development for Android and Sony’s Xperia PlayPlayStation Phone” system.

Here is the Minecraft Xbox 360 announcement video from Microsoft’s Pre-E3 2011 Press Conference.
