Metroid Wii U is a sure thing, says Katsuya Eguchi of Nintendo

Samus on Wii U would be sexy eh?
Metroid for Wii U is a real possibility according to Nintendo, and apparently they really want to make one!

This is according to Nintendo’s Katsuya Eguchi, manager of EAD. To quote:

“I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release (on Wii U) making use of the new controller… to control Samus and her ship…” — Katsuya Eguchi, EAD Manager

“I can’t give you any details now, but I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information. Maybe the player is looking at the screen but has the information that they need to defeat the enemy in their hands. You could look through the screen and scan your enemy and find where where it’s weakspot is.”

For the record, I hope that they go with a PURE side-scrolling action game ala Metroid Fusion instead of the first-person Metroid Prime Trilogy-style or the third-personMetroid: Other M-style.

Can you imagine a game like Super Metroid but using the horsepower of the Wii U? THE MIND CAN’T CONTAIN IT!

Now check out this Metroid Retrospective released to promote Metroid: Other M and fantasize!
