The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings has officially been announced for Xbox 360 release by developer CD Projekt Red.

Although the possiblity of seeing The Witcher 1 or The Witcher 2 on consoles had been rumored and talked about by the developers in the past, it has up until now been unconfirmed that a platform other than the PC would see any of the titles. Which would be a shame considering how great of RPGs both Witcher titles are.

But now Xbox 360 gamers will finally be able to give the universe a taste! Sadly, it seems that a PS3 version was not announced. No word on why or whether one will be revealed at a later date. Maybe they want to dip their toes in the water by releasing a 360 version first and see how receptive console gamers are to the title before committing to another version.

The Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 will also include all of the downloadable content from the PC version of the game, however it is being called an “adaptation”, which means there will be some changes or perhaps cuts from the PC original …. hopefully nothing too major.

Now let’s hope we see a “Game of the Year” edition of the first game released for Xbox 360 as well!
