The first Prey 2 trailer has finally been revealed from E3 2011.
Even though we already knew that Prey 2 was going to take the series in a completely new direction and reboot it (the original game was released way back in 2006), it’s quite surprising to see that the game essentially has nothing to do with the previous game and has gone all sci-fi Blade Runner-esque/but-futuristic-parkour on us.
The trailer showcases a completely alien world, inhabited by both aliens and humans, and the main character gives chase to his bounty, using futuristic weapons and multi-targeting enemies as he runs, dives and leaps through obstacles while giving chase.
At one point he shoots multiple opponents as he slides under a beam, and while the trailer is obviously not gameplay, it does almost look like it could be. In the game you play as a US Marshal surviving a plane crash on the alien world, and can easily explore the world using acrobatic skills, as shown in the trailer.
The game also promises many random events that the player can respond to as they explore, similar to Red Dead Redemption.
Here is the official E3 2011 trailer, which is quite a piece of work. The game is scheduled for release in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Probably PC as well, although the PC label is lacking from the end of the trailer…
