Red Faction series history video

Red Faction: Armageddon has aliens like this Creeper!
The Red Faction: Armageddon release date of June 7th is nearly upon us, and to celebrate the impending thrust back into the heart of the alien planet of Mars, a new Red Faction Retrospective video has been released giving us a brief runover of the history of Red Faction.

For those who have been gaming for more than one generation, you will likely remember the original Red Faction, which was released to moderate critical acclaim and sales for the PlayStation 2 way back in 2001 (it was later released on PC, Mac, N-Gage and mobile phones), where the focus was entirely on the destructive environments (which could only be destroyed in set places).

Red Faction II followed that in 2002 on PS2, and in 2003 on Xbox1, GameCube and PC. This sequel took the franchise in some new directions and was larger in scope. We didn’t hear from the franchise for quite a while after that, until THQ blew the doors wide open with the release of 2009’s Red Faction: Guerrilla which got both critical accliam and sold surprisingly well, officially rebooting the long-dormant franchise.

It’s quite amazing that THQ has so successfully revived the series, and it looks to be better than ever in Red Faction: Armageddon, which finally introduces full-fledged aliens!

Here is the History of Red Faction video for Red Faction: Armageddon.
