In this ‘spotlight on’ video I talk about the character of Takeaki Misawa from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio’s Forbidden Siren 2.

Takeaki Misawa is a Major in the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force. Haunted by terrible memories from the moment he saved Harumi Yomoda — the only survivor of the original Siren game — from Hanuda. In the sequel he’s in the helicopter that crash-lands on Yamijima Island with his comrades Yorito Nagai and Hiroshi Okita.

In the PlayStation 2-exclusive game Forbidden Siren 2 — that was only released in Japan, Europe & Australia — Takeaki Misawa becomes increasingly psychotic and homicidal, which leads to dangerous encounters with the rest of the stranded cast.

What is Takeaki Misawa meant to convey in Siren 2? Let’s put the spotlight on him.

We never got Siren 2 in America. If only it were released for the computer as well but Sony do not do that unless it is an mmo

Another very thought-provoking episode! Now I am intrigued beyond belief and want to see if I can track the game down! Sadly though I’m in America so may have to mod my system to play the dang thing…. I still have never played the first Siren despite being a big fan of survival horror games.

It is interesting to really dissect a character you like you did. That is not something you see done very often in videogames to quite the degree that you have done in this video. Bravo!

It is SUCH a shame that the US didn’t get Siren2. I can only guess that the frustrating game play of the first Siren kept sales down in the states, Sony must have decided to not release the next in the franchise because of this? It really is too bad cause they tweaked all (well, almost all) of the annoying game play issues in 2. A much more user friendly format. And Siren Blood Curse….meh. They lost soooo much atmosphere by adding the western element. This was an obvious attempt to increase their US sales. And I won’t mention the “download now cause this won’t be released on disk” spiel they came out with. Do a straight remake of the 1st two Sirens Sony in PS3…NOW! Great vid as per usual Meg!

Ahmed Jouini : nice vid Meg although i didn’t know the game i was kind of impressed with this character he actually let you discover him more as the game develop like Tenzin from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves it’s that character that get you involved with the story and show you the beauty of the game and it’s rare for a game to achieve this, nice vid ,Thanks Meg
