Minecraft announced for iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad (ios version) Minecraft, the Internet game that has taken over the world, has been officially announced for iOS systems, meaning you can grab the indie sensation for iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad soon via the App Store.

This is according to Markus Persson, founder of the developer behind Minecraft, Mojang, who revealed the news to Gamasutra. The iOS version is currently in development.

Handling development duties on the project is Aron Neiminen who has been newly hired by the Mojang team specifically to concentrate on developing the iOS version.

Minecraft for iOS will be available later this year.

Unlike the current PC version of Minecraft that is heavily updated with new features, the iOS version will only get the most major updates that make the most sense for the mobile touchscreen platform.
