A brand-new Command and Conquer reboot has been revealed!

Originally revealed when a web-site for the game went live and then was taken offline, the game was also revealed in an interview with General Manager Jon Van Caneghem of Victory Games, the development team that will be handling this upcoming 2011/2012 reboot of the beloved series.

Victory Games is a new studio from EA that will focus all their energy on EA’s Strategy games portfolio and is based in three locations: LA, Texas and Shanghai.

Although no details on the game were announced, there is this quote from the interview:

Eric: In closing, do you have anything you’d like to say to the fans?
JVC: Absolutely! I want the fans to know that Victory Games is committed to bringing Command & Conquer back to the forefront for the next ten years and beyond. We’ll be announcing our first new game later this year.

Are you excited?

I’m quite surprised that EA is already rebooting the franchise after the last Command & Conquer 4 game. Then again, it needed it according to fan reaction to that title. So interesting news indeed.

And now for a Command & Conquer retrospective video!
