SOCOM 4 has a release date of April 19, 2011 exclusively for PlayStation 3. The game is being developed by Zipper Interactive, the longtime main developer of the series.
Although the 4th entry will play very similarly to the previous games in the series, it will see some additions.
The game supports the PlayStation Move and stereoscopic 3D. Gameplay updates include real-time squad commands, setting waypoints for team members and using Command Mode to set how many enemies to takedown and how. In realtime, the screen will slowly gray out as you select your options, with the war still raging around you.
The campaign mode meanwhile will feature 12 missions for roughly fourteen hours of gameplay, and improved AI and cover mechanics. Zipper says they want SOCOM 4 to be “the best shooter on the PS3”.
