Mortal Kombat 2011 release date announced (Xbox 360, PS3)

Mortal Kombat 2011 Collector's Edition package (Xbox 360, PS3). Release date is April 19
Mortal Kombat 2011 will be released on April 19, 2011 in North America and in Europe on April 18th, announced developer Netherrealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. The game will hit Xbox 360 and PS3.

Depending on how many extras you want along with your copy, you can pick up the Mortal Kombat special edition in one of two different sets (or the “Standard Edition” if you just want the game): The Kollector’s Edition and Tournament Edition.

The “Kollector’s Edition” includes: Sub-Zero and Scorpion figurines, an art book, and a downloadable content skin, dubbed a “Mortal Kombat Klassic costume” as well the Klassic Costume for your 360 Avatar or PlayStation Home character.

The “Tournament Edition” includes: A portable arcade fight stick and an exclusive Retro-Ninja Klassic Character Skin. You also will get an exclusive online “King of the Hill” mode. Note that this version lacks the other extras (Scorpion and Sub-Zero figurine, art book) but is a true limited edition, having a total print run of only 20,000 copies for North America alone.

Mortal Kombat 2011 Tournament Edition release date is April 19 (Xbox 360, PS3)

And don’t forget that Kratos is playable in Mortal Kombat 2011 exclusively on the PS3 versions of the game. In addition to that console exclusive, the PS3 versions also have a 3D Mode for stereoscopic 3D support if you have the right equipment. So if you want the most Mortal Kombat 2011 characters you’ll definitely want to stick with the PS3.

Additionally, if you pre-order the game you’ll get an exclusive “Klassic” character skin along with an exclusive Klassic Fatality depending on where you pre-order.
