Nintendo vs Capcom being pitched to Smash Bros. producer

Nintendo x Capcom or Mario vs Street Fighter or Pokemon vs Monster Hunter may sound like something from a crazed fans wet dream, but there may be more truth than fiction to such outrageous titles. That’s right, a Capcom vs Nintendo title may actually become a reality, that is, if Nintendo really wants it.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono was asked an event if he would ever consider allowing Street Fighter characters to be placed in the Super Smash Bros. series. Cool right?

Well his answer was quite the surprise. He 1UP’d that suggestion by talking about how he would love to pitch a Nintendo x Capcom/Street Fighter vs Smash Bros. series to Nintendo of Japan lead Masahiro Sakurai! He even dropped a name! While this may sound too far-fetched, it may be crazy enough to work, and Ono may be serious enough to actually get the ball rolling.

How exactly you could get everything balanced and proportioned to work between Street Fighter and Smash Bros. remains to be seen, but I’m sure the two companies could work something interesting out. You have to remember how much support Capcom has given Nintendo over the years, from bringing over Tatsunoko vs Capcom exclusively to the Wii, to their support of the Resident Evil series on Wii and 3DS; Capcom has been a fine friend of Nintendo’s.

Don’t forget that Capcom has no less than THREE upcoming launch window titles in development for 3DS: Super Street Fighter IV (being published by Nintendo), Resident Evil: Revelations and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. So Nintendo should be inclined to listen to one of their close friends.

Not to mention that the Wii has an incredible lack of fighting games, so it could also fill a void. Let’s hope this happens!
