A new Resistance game is coming to the PSP2 (or Next Generation Portable) and the game is being developed by “Nihilistic Software”, not by Insomniac Games.

Nihilistic isn’t an entirely well known developer, their previous work runs the gamet of quality, including: the cancelled StarCraft: Ghost, Vampire: The Masquerade, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, Conan, Zombie Apocalypse and the upcoming PlayStation Move Heroes.

In addition, and in the most exciting news thus revealed about the game, Resistance for PSP2 is NOT a port but will be an all-new game in the first-person shooter series.

This was revealed by Insomniac in a tweet congratulating Nihilistic.

So where is Sony Bend, the developer that created the first portable Resistance game, “Resistance: Retribution”, and why aren’t they making the game? It’s because they are busy making the new Uncharted PSP2 game.

All else that is known about the new Resistance is that it WILL be a first-person shooter (at least from what the screenshots suggest) and not a third-person shooter like Retribution was.
