This Breach walkthrough video guide shows you what to expect in this new First/Third-Person Shooter for PC and Xbox Live Arcade from developer Atomic Games.

Breach is a first-person multiplayer shooter which utilizes the innovative Hydrogen Engine to give players inventive ways to use destruction so they can stun, manipulate, and eliminate their opponents with a new toolbox of tactics. Virtual warriors can punch holes through floors to get the drop on enemies below, breach both interior and exterior walls, crush enemy fighters by collapsing ceilings and balconies, and even shoot away individual bricks to create “shooter’s holes.”

Players will take on the roles of some of the most elite field operatives in the US. CIA Special Activities Division officers are the teams sent in on real-life black operations when no one can ever know the US was involved. This secret world of black operations is brought to life with accurate weapons, gear, and real-life spy gadgets which virtual operators can use with real world tactics to defeat the enemy.

Here is a developer walkthrough of Breach, showing off many of the destruction features.

What game modes are in Breach?

Breach features five game modes. Here is a list of each along with a description on what they entail.

Infiltration:
A Conquest-like Game Type in which both teams compete to capture and hold strategic locations throughout the environment. Points are earned for time in possession of each location.

Convoy
Similar to Assault and Defend games, except, the target of the assault is a convoy of moving vehicles. One team advances the convoy to safety while the opposing team tries to stop it. Roadblocks and a destructible environment build on the challenge.

Retrieval:
Each of the two teams compete to locate a randomly placed Bioweapon canister and deliver it to the drop-off location. Points are scored when a successful retrieval has occurred.

Team Deathmatch:
Each of the two teams compete in a race to eliminate enemy forces and reach the score threshold. Points are earned for the total elimination of opposing team members.

Sole Survivor:
Eliminate each player on the other team. There are no respawns. Combine Sole Survivor with Hardcore mode for authentic training.

Hardcore
A new game mode added after the release date was delayed due to a Microsoft error.

Do you earn experience or level-up?

Yes. In Breach you will earn XP for taking part in 8-player multiplayer battles online. You can then use the XP and spend it on upgrading or buying new weapons, perks, and other upgrades.

Are there Ranks?

Yes. You’ll be able to upgrade in Rank as you play. There are SIX total Ranks: Grunt, Agent, Operative, Specialist, Lieutenant and Commander. Commander is the highest rank, while Grunt is the starting point. Within each of the six Ranks are three different tiers each, including three tiers for Commander Rank. Offering a great deal of opportunity to grow and be rewarded as you play.

Here is a list:

Sticky Bomb

The modern day successor to the WWII developed Sticky Bomb, this thrown explosive device is coated in a highly adhesive substance, allowing it to stick nearly anything.

Remote Motion Sensor
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 1 Agent
A placeable device, the Remote Motion Sensor can be placed on any surface; including ceilings. The device will then notify you when an enemy motion is detected within its operating radius.

Bionic Ear
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 2 Operative
The Bionic Ear amplifies and localizes enemy sounds such as footsteps and weapons fire, allowing you to locate enemies, even through walls.

IR Sniper Detector
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 2 Operative
The Sniper Detector works by bouncing an IR beam off any scoped weapon that is within the user’s view. This creates a glare on the lens, helping you locate snipers.

Bomb Sniffer
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 3 Officer
This passive device uses a laser-treated fluorescent polymer that reacts when near explosive materials such as C4 and mines. The explosive objects are then highlighted for the user.

Sabotage Kit
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 3 Officer
A collection of small amounts of C4, detonating cord and other explosive hardware. Placing a kit on devices, such as mounted weapons and weapons caches, will result in an explosion when another player attempts to use them.

M79 Pirate Cannon
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 3 Officer
The M79 is a single shot Grenade launcher using a 40mm grenade round. Mostly replaced today by the M203, it continues to remain in service in niche roles. Other nicknames include “Thumper” and “Bloop Tube.”

M2 SLAM Charge
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 4 Lieutenant
The SLAM, primarily an anti vehicle landmine, uses a magnetic influence sensor to detect a vehicle’s proximity. It is also armed with a passive infrared sensor, sensitive enough to detect enemy infantry.

Medic Kit
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 4 Lieutenant
The Combat Medic Kit contains the essential equipment you need to patch yourself or a teammate and finish your objective.

Sonic Imager
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 5 Commander
Using radar technology, the Pulse Imager can display high resolution live imagery of objects on the other side of walls. Capable of “seeing” through most materials, it can be used to map rooms as well as detect motion.

Dragon Skin Armor Vest
CLASS/LEVEL OBTAINED: Level 1 Agent
A passive device, the Dragon Skin Vest represents the state of the art in body armor. Using a series of overlapping silicon carbide ceramic discs it creates a flexible and more resilient surface than traditional armor.

Interior Cover and Destructibility

Everything in the environments can be chipped away piece by piece, with incredible destruction offered on each and every piece of the environments. Unlike in most games, when you blow up a part of a wall in Breach, the size of the hole will be different every time and not a canned animation. Additionally, you not only can blow up the exterior walls and even collapse an entire building by busting the support, but you can blow up every piece of the INTERIOR walls as well. This gives the game a great deal of strategy.

Is it true that the game code was almost stolen?

Yes. At PAX East, a bandit almost made away with some of the game code, 14mb to be exact. However they caught the thief in the midst of the crowd before he could escape the building and were able to recover the stolen code from him. Thankfully, or there may have been a major setback for the developers.
