Modern Warfare 3 is “well into production” by three different developers: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software.

Infinity Ward, of course, is the well-known developer of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 that became a household name last year when their founders left publisher Activision over messy handling from the publisher. Now those people who remain are the ones handling the core development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, although mostly the single-player.

Sledgehammer Games, made up of ex-members of Visceral Games, will also be helping on the single-player portion of the game; with this being their first title.

Raven Software previously made games like Singularity and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and they have been tasked with handling the multiplayer portion of the game. All of this to speed up development, according to the L.A. Times blog “Company Town”, who reported that they spoke with sources close to the development of Modern Warfare 3.

In addition, it is reported that Modern Warfare 3 WILL be this year’s annual Call of Duty title and will be released THIS November.

We’ll likely get official confirmation and an official announcement of the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2011 on June 7th.
