Infinity Blade hits $1 million in sales in only five days on the AppStore

Epic’s iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad release of Infinity Blade by Chair Entertainment has won big, securing over $1 million dollars (1.6 mil to be exact) in only five days since it hit the AppStore. That is a tremendous accomplishment for this first mobile game based on Unreal Engine 3 tech.

Despite the fact that the game is essentially an on-rails brawler, one million dollars worth of sales essentially assures that we’ll be seeing more Infinity Blade in the not-to-distant future, and Chair (who previously made the critically acclaimed Shadow Complex for XBLA) can add another great downloadable game to their belt.

Actual sales of the title however amount to around 274,000 according to Game Center, so it still has quite a ways to go before it hits half a million (although Epic says actual sales are higher). But who cares when the amount of money generated is so high, eh?

To quote Mark Rein, CEO and co-founder of Epic, via Twitter

“Great Infinity Blade success stories today however the Game Center numbers being reported are quite a bit lower than the actual sales.”

Here is a trailer for Infinity Blade.
