Prototype 2 release date in 2012. First trailer reveals plot

Prototype 2 has been set for a 2012 release, according to the reveal trailer at today’s Spike Video Game Awards 2010.

Set in New York City, Sergeant James Heller will take over from the original game’s Alex Mercer, as the protagonist. It looks like he has a grudge against Alex for converting him into a genetically engineered shape shifter (like Alex was by the government). It’s unclear at this point why this happens.

One thing is clear though, the Infected, monsters created by a strange virus, are still overrunning cities and taking lives.

Murder Your Maker in the sequel to the infectious free-roam action game!

Here’s the Prototype 2 debut trailer.

Like the original, Prototype 2 will most likely be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

It looks so s awesome!!!!!!! I can’t stop thinking about this game. I can’t wait anymore it’s killing me inside. Please radical can you release it in 2011. You could still make it an exellent game, your fans can’t wait anymore. I don’t need it to be perfect just a few slight improvements. If other people agree with me please respond. I didn’t think prototype needed much work overall it was amazing just improve on landscape and give more powers. If any devolopers are out there your fans want prototype to be released this year we can’t wait any longer.
