Mass Effect 3 announced with first trailer at the VGA’s

Mass Effect 3 has been officially announced for Holiday 2011 release with the first trailer for the game shown at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards 2010.

The VGA trailer will definitely be exciting for fans of the franchise and shows a much darker tone as the fate of the world hangs in the balance of Shephard’s actions.

The EA Store described the game’s story as: “Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.”

The third chapter of the epic Mass Effect series will complete the Mass Effect Trilogy, as the Reapers’ vengeance threatens Earth itself.

Here is the debut trailer for Mass Effect 3.

It will be released in Fall 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

@ josh finally the battle to end it all is on earth. i heard the actions you take on mass effect 2 effects what goes on in 3 is that true?. cause i basically told the illusive man to piss off and destroyed the alien base instead of giving it to Cerberus

@ Jay: Yes that is true, what you do in Mass Effect 2 will carry on to the story of Mass Effect 3 just like BioWare did with Mass Effect 1 going into 2. As long as you kept your save file. And yes awesome news indeed! The trailer was amazing!
