Kingdom Under Fire 2 has been announced exclusively for PS3.

The game was revealed at the Korean videogame tradeshow “G-Star”.

The game was not announced for Xbox 360 despite the original game appearing on the Xbox1, and the publisher has cast doubt on a 360 version. Although that may only concern the Korean release where the Xbox 360 remains unpopular. So you can’t entirely rule out a Western 360 release at this early point.

Kingdom Under Fire 2 was originally announced over two years back and is an action RTS that includes an MMO mode where thousands of players share the same battlefield! The game was originally set to appear on the PC as well, but now it seems like the PS3 has become it’s new official home for the time being. With the developer calling it the first “Korean-born PS3 game”.

Apparently one reason for the PS3 transition is due to the power of Bluray, according to producer Sang-Yoon Lee, which gives the PS3 a higher advantage over other versions. The core software is expected to be nearly 20GB, which fit onto one Bluray.

However Sony has stated that they do not have a contract with the developer that would make the game an exclusive. But apparently online issues that would come into play on the Xbox 360 due to Microsoft’s policies is also a factor in the PS3 being selected as the preferred platform, with the developer saying that the inability to deliver free items to players as DLC over Xbox Live is a “barrier”. But don’t count out an Xbox 360 version quite yet.

Either way, the game has only been announced officially for Korea at this point, though there is no reason the series shouldn’t come overseas. Of course, given how badly the first game was received by both critics and players alike, maybe that’s a good thing.

Hopefully they have made significant improvements to the series for this second entry though. Time will tell.

Here is a trailer for the game.
