PSP Go vs DSi comparison price cut to $200
Sony has dropped the PSP Go price to $200 dollars in North America, down from $250.

This fifty-dollar drop for the sidelined PSP Go system (which has had the lowest sales compared to all it’s competitors) may help spur sales going into the holiday season and the new price puts it in direct competition with home consoles Wii and the 4GB Xbox 360.

Although the new price puts the system within striking distance of the DS, it is still $20 more expensive than the price of the DSi XL which clocks in at $170.

It’ll be interesting to see if this will spur sales in any major way for the Sony portable, especially given that the Nintendo 3DS is coming in March 2011 and there is the possibility of a full-scale PSP 2 follow-up coming next year as well.

Having said that, I myself don’t own a PSP system yet and have been considering getting one, so this new price does make the PSP Go a more attractive package for me. Even though I’d probably go for the PSP 3000 since it can play disc-based games and I like to buy used titles which you can’t play with disc-driveless PSP Go.

What do you think, will this new price spur sales of the PSP Go? Will you be getting a PSP Go anytime this holiday?
