In our Enslaved Odyssey to the West walkthrough, you’ll be guided through the beginning to ending moments of cutscenes and gameplay for this highly anticipated action adventure game for Xbox 360 and PS3 from Ninja Theory, the developer behind Heavenly Sword.

Follow a gripping, surprise-filled journey as two dissimilar characters form an uneasy partnership in order to survive through a perilous, post-apocalyptic America.

150 years in the future, war and destruction have left the world in ruins with few humans remaining and nature having reclaimed the world. Mysterious slave ships harvest the dwindling population and take them out west, never to return.

In Enslaved, players take on the role of Monkey, a strong and brutish loner, and his AI partner Trip, a technologically savvy but sheltered young woman from a peaceful community. Both become captured by one of the mysterious slave ship. As they each attempt to escape, Trip realizes quickly that Monkey, with his raw strength and power, is the only hope she has of making the perilous journey back home. She hacks into a slave headband to enslave Monkey and link them together – if she dies, he dies. Her journey has now become his.

Players must make sure both Monkey and Trip work together as they skillfully navigate through the world and survive against the dangerous enemy obstacles that lie in wait. Monkey will deftly wield his trusty staff weapon to attack and defend against enemies, using a combination of melee attacks, blocks and counters. He will also be able to perform spectacular takedown moves, allowing him to rip an enemy apart piece by piece, take its weapon for his own use or destroy it in one final blow.

Chapter 1: “The Escape”

During this first level, you will be introduced to most the games basic mechanics running, jumping and of course combat. This is basically just a training level, with you learning the controls. Monkey will encounter a handful of combat mechs and have to defeat these, but first you must retrieve you gear. After meeting the first mech, move off to the right, and start climbing up a series of poles and hand holds until you have gotten yourself over to the other side of the room, drop down the pole and you will be in an empty container room here is where you will find monkeys bike and his staff, grab these and head back up to give that mech a pounding.

Chapter 2: “The Old City”

Now the game actually begins, Monkey has been enslaved by a slave headband, that will kill him if he disobeys Trip. Now this unlikely duo must move through the by mechs infested jungle that once was New York. The introduction of the “Distraction” mechanic is shown through a small fight with some mechs and a turret, you can easily get past these by using the decoy and then moving quickly, if you run out of time find cover quickly.

Tip: Tech Orbs are little balls of energy that can be found throughout the world by themselves or in a group. These orbs are used to upgrade your equipment and abilities, so collect as many of these as possible as you play through the game. You will find most of these on your path through the game, but they are sometimes also hidden. Enemies sometimes leave tech orbs behind too.

Chapter 2: “The Old City” Part 2

During this video you will be shown how to catch the dragonfly and use the new scanning feature to your advantage. By using your new heads up display, start to analyse the battlefield.

Tip: The slave band interface allows you to find Trip whenever you cannot find her. Press the LT/LB button to find out where she is at. Majority of the time she will be at your next objective to move on to the next area.

Chapter 2: “The Old City” Part 3 and The Berserker Boss Battle

Our first boss fight is with the Demolition Mech called The Berserker. You will want to avoid his wrecking ball punches to survive this fight.

To take on this huge hunk of junk you’re going to need to make him angry. Once you have beaten the Demo Mech into a fury, hide behind the huge statue (it covers you too) and start taunting him with Distract using the decoy function. Do this a few time and the statue of Atlas will drop his huge globe on top of this mech boss.

Chapter 3 “The Metal Tower”

Monkey and Trip continue their journey through the old city to find the downed prison ship, so monkey can get his ride back.
In this video you will also see how to get the “Lover, Not A Fighter” Trophy/Achievement for moving past a group of mechs without disturbing them.

Tip: The first Mask can be collected in this chapter. Follow our Masks Locations Guide for all of them. You will not only get 2 achievements for finding these, but each one also gives you a unique vision.

Chapter 3: “The Metal Tower” Part 2

This is your second encounter with a Demo Mech, and just as the first you will need to get him angry before you send him crashing into the nearest wall. Once he has been dazed you can perform your takedown move and turn him into scrap metal.

Chapter 4 “Wherefore Art Thou?”

Make sure when you do take on a Shielded Mech, that you flank them to try and get behind their shielding to be able to do some damage… Or use your stun ammo on the shielded enemies first and take them out as quickly as possible, to avoid getting into to much trouble when dealing with larger groups of mechs.

Chapter 4: “Wherefore Art Thou?” Part 2

To get yourself the “Close Call” Trophy/Achievement you’ll need to stop a Mech from calling in reinforcements, with a second left on the counter. You’ll be able to see how I did it in this video.

Chapter 4: “Wherefore Art Thou?” Part 3 & Dog Boss Battle

To bring down the platforms in the correct order in the theater puzzle and defeat the Dog Mech Boss, first use the switch to raise the green platform to jump onto the blue, next lower the blue platform and cross over, from here you can raise the red platform, now move back across the blue one raising it behind you. Now you’ll have all 3 colored platforms raised, jump over and grab the angel.

Chapter 5 “The Crash Site”

The beginning of this level introduces the “Cloud”, a hoverboard that Monkey can use for transport and evading enemies. It’s also very tricky to handle, so take some time and get used to the controls.

Chapter 5: “The Crash Site” Part 2

When Trip gets the armored car up and running you must move quickly, stay behind the car and move sides when Trip tells you to, otherwise you could end up as target practice for those turrets.

Chapter 6 “Village Approach”

The bridge puzzle in this level requires Monkey to cross over first, then call trip over to your side, now cross back over and use the lever. This makes it so you can move up to the top level, get Trip to activate the switch, and then you can use your switch to allow Trip to get up.

Chapter 6: “Village Approach” Part 2

During this final section of the level you will encounter a ton of Mech’s on the bridge, without Trip to rely on for decoy support, it will be up to you to take them down on your own, use the health packs on the bridge if things get tough there are 2 on the right side of the bridge.

Chapter 7 “Finding Trip”

Now you are on your own, so when you are forced to take on the mechs, make sure you take out the shielded mechs first as they can be tricky. Just be patient and use the available health spread out in this level during battles.

Chapter 7: “Finding Trip” Part 2

Chapter 8 “Gaining Access”

This level’s puzzling windmill is not as tricky as it seems. The first blade is done automatically by making it to the top, the second can only be accessed by using the platforms on the side, climb the platform and get Trip to rotate the windmill till you can grab the bar, now jump on-board and give Trip the order to spin it round till you hit the top.

Chapter 8 “Gaining Access” Part 2

Dog Boss Battle. Use the Cloud to keep out the way of the Dog. Use your stun shots to take the Dog down, next pummel him using your heaviest attack and keep going. You will have to chase the Dog Mech around until you are close enough to perform the first take-down move, and repeat the process to finish him off.

Chapter 9 “The Wasteland”

Get ready to go Cloud crazy! Not only is the final set piece of the level a Cloud chase, you also start the level using the Cloud as you cannot touch the water, and make sure you don’t even touch a mine’s warning ring, as its game over.

Chapter 9 “The Wasteland” Part 2

You will need to be especially careful during the Cloud-Dog Mech chase sequence, be sure to stay calm and avoid those mines to ensure you will make it.

Chapter 10 “The Titan Factory”

If you can beat Pigsy to the top of the first tower you will get a Trophy/Achievement for beating him.

Chapter 10 “The Titan Factory” Part 2

During the Heatsink collection, make sure you flip the switch for Trip so she can get across to reach the Heatsink. After you have thrown her across the gap, return to the switch and press it once again so you can join her.

Chapter 11 “The Old Battlefield”

During this level there is a lot of shooting on the initial part of the level. But the biggest threat is the Rhino you have to fight, not only is it bigger than the Dog Mech, there is also another Cloud chase sequence.

Chapter 11: “The Old Battlefield” Part 2 and Rhino Boss Battle

First to defeat the Rhino you will need to hit the bombs that Pigsy drops at the same time as the Rhino moves across them.
The next phase requires you to get the Rhino to charge into a huge explosive container, there are 2 more that you must shoot first to free them up before you can get the Rhino to charge them, but the game will highlight these for you so don’t worry too much.
After defeating the Rhino, Trip somehow manages to get stuck on top of this huge Mech and you must give chase on the Cloud, just watch out for falling debris and you should be fine. This is not as difficult as the earlier Cloud level.

Chapter 12 “The Dam”

To get the submarine loose, both of the carts should have their red lights facing Monkey. Once both carts have been turned around, you can move the sub through without any carts stopping you.

Chapter 12 “The Dam” Part 2

Tip: To take out enemies out from a distance first stun them, and then use a headshot when possible, and you will be dropping mechs like flies.

Chapter 13 “Grand Theft”

When you need to shoot out Pigsy’s bombs on the holding clamps that keep the Leviathan attached to the sea floor, they can be very tricky shots. Take your time if you run out of ammo, as more will spawn. So don’t worry, just stop and take a look around for more ammo.

Chapter 13 “Grand Theft” Part 2

Chapter 14 “Pyramid”

Make sure you have upgraded as much as possible before leaving the Leviathan door. The game will warn you that this will be your last chance.
When taking on the Scorpion Mech Boss you will need to fight through a ton of mech troops, so be patient, then focus on the Scorpion Boss. Any points you need to shoot will be highlighted by the game. After shooting out his weak points on his claw, start moving back the way you came as soon as possible or the Scorpion will kill you almost instantly. Once you have gone down again, prepare for more mechs to come and then take out his second claw using the same tactic.

Chapter 14 “Pyramid” Part 2

This last part of the Enslaved walkthrough will show the final boss battle up to the ending of the game. Good luck finishing it!
