ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD collection officially announced for PS3

ICO HD and SD comparison. These shots aren't from the upcoming PS3 collection
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, two of the biggest cult-darlings from the PlayStation 2’s library and masterpieces of Ueda’s “Team ICO” developer, are now coming to PS3 in HD!

A collection pack of some sort is definitely on the way, although exact details on what it is are a little lacking.

Retail postings on Wal-Mart online have it detailed as a twin-pack that would include both games, both updated to HD for the current-generation, and selling for $40.

However the first official confirmation comes via Famitsu in Japan, where they say that it is not a collection but the games are in fact being released separately. That however may be only in Japan . . . perhaps the games are popular enough there to be released separately, but that wouldn’t fly as well out West.

Either way, we are getting SOMETHING, and that’s definitely a good thing. As both games are beloved by legions of gamers everywhere, and deserve to be experienced in HD and have Trophy support.

We should learn more soon as the Tokyo Game Show 2010 continues…

Update:
The game were announced officially at TGS 2010, although details are still slim. It sounds like the two games will be sold separately in Japan, but packaged together and sold as a collection in America. In addition to having updated HD graphics and Trophy support, the games will also support stereoscopic 3D! They will be released in Spring of 2011.

Here’s the first trailer showing both games in HD!
