Geometry Wars 3 not coming anytime soon

Geometry Wars 3, or whatever the next official game in the series will be called, is not coming anytime soon.

Despite the games being extremely popular (particularly on Xbox Live Arcade), developer Bizarre Creations feels like releasing another game in the series at this point would be “oversaturating” the market.

This comes from level designer Peter Collier at Bizarre in speaking to VideoGamer, to quote:

“It’s just a great thing having titles that people love, that they associate with our studio — and Geometry Wars is one of them. It’s very close to a lot of fans’ hearts. I guess it’s just one of those things, that it’s a great and very proud feeling having something that the fans adore so much, but we don’t want to oversaturate it by carrying on with it. It’s may be something that we keep as something we love, and move on to other things, you know?”

Given that statement though, it doesn’t mean they won’t make another Geometry Wars title.

“There’s nothing on the current horizon, but we can’t rule anything out.”

So far there have been 5-6 Geometry Wars titles: The original Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved for Xbox Live Arcade, it’s sequel: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Geometry Wars: Galaxies in both DS and Wii versions, the mobile Geometry Wars: Evolved and the Project Gotham Racing 4 minigame, Geometry Wars: Waves.

Mmmmm….. Geometry Wars.
