Amnesia: The Dark Descent walkthrough Part 6: Cellar Archives & Archive Tunnels

Hint: Be careful when enemies are near. Crouching (Left Control button) in the darkness makes you a lot harder to spot.

As you enter the Cellar Archives you will notice about a foot of water with crates all over the place. You are going to need to stay out of the water as much as possible; you will still need to travel in the water to sometimes get from crate to crate.

The first room to your right will have a lever you will need to pull in order to get through the gate that is further up ahead. This is a timed gate so make sure to travel to it before it closes again.

Once through the gate, head towards the left of the room and throw crates towards the door there. Once you moved through the hallway into the next room, there is a hallow needle on the shelf to the left in order for you to get through the locked door.

Once you have entered the Archive Tunnels, you will need to just keep running as the creature in the water will be chasing you. So make sure to close each door you go through as you proceed.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent walkthrough Part 7: Storage & Machine Parts

Hint: Some items can be combined in the Inventory (Tab button). You drag and drop one item onto another to attempt a combine. Like with the drill parts.

Proceed to the Storage section in order to collect the rods equipment needed to fix the elevator system. But before you can gain access to the area where the rods are at, you will first need to collect 3 drill parts so you can drill 2 barrels that contain the explosive chemicals needed to get to that area. The first drill part will be inside the room to your left as you go down the steps in the Storage area. The rest of the drill parts will be inside the rooms surrounding the room full of barrels.

Put together the drill and drill holes in the Primary and Secondary barrels (in either order) and pour the explosive material into the Chemistry Pot you are holding. You will then use this explosive material to blow up the rocks blocking the path to the next area. You will need to throw any of the small rocks nearby at the explosive in order to start it. Stand back.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent walkthrough Part 8: More Storage

Now that you have blown through the blocked section with the rocks, you can now finally move on to collect the rods needed to fix the elevator system.

But you will need to be careful in this area; there is 1 enemy that is inside of the left large room. I was not able to find out if you can avoid opening (and blocking) this door for you to possibly not run into him later as I do 3 different times. It is worth trying though, but he still may get through. If you do run into him, and cannot avoid him with my suggestions, then RUN! If you are still having trouble running away from him and/or keep dying, run into the nearest room, block the doorway and then hide in a dark corner. I cannot guarantee this will work but it has for me twice, as shown.

Once you have the rods, you can head back to the Back Hall and to get the elevator fixed.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent walkthrough Part 9: Study and Guest Room & The Canine Spine

You now need to find the Machine Room key and 1 more rod to be able to fix the elevator. The last rod is located in the Study Room; it is located in the set of rooms blocked by the rubble. In order to reach these rooms, you will need to break the window and jump along the ledges outside. The first part of my video does not show this, I return at the end of the video to get this rod. — The cracked window panes are held together only by a weak wooden frame. If only had something to break them, like Gordon Freeman and his crowbar would. 😉 You will find the crowbar in the room at the Back Hall where you retrieve Daniel’s Diary 2/3 discussing “Revelations” about Herbert finding the orb.

You will find the Machine Room key in the Guest Room. The Machine Key will be behind the painting in the small room that is jammed to the right. You will need to go to the bedroom to the left to grab the crowbar off the desk in order to open the door.

There will be 1 enemy that comes into the Guest Room after you have entered this closet room. But as you will see, I took precautions and blocked both doorways with the chairs lying around. However, I did still hide in the closet just in case the enemy did get through my barricade.

Hint: You better find a place to hide, you have no means to defend yourself.

Once you have the key and rod, you can now enter the Machine Room to get the elevator fixed.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent walkthrough Part 10: Machine Room & Cell Area I

You need to complete 4 different steps in order to get the elevator system working once again.

1. The first step is to move the levers to the correct Roman numeral in the first room, go to the Back Hall to pull the levers to stabilize the flow. The order from left to right goes down – down – up – up – up – down. This will then make the flow even and stable.

2. The second step in the next room downstairs is to place the rods in the correct order from left to right into the wall puzzle, which you were told earlier in a note but it goes as is: green – blue – red.

3. To complete the third step bring the cogwheel from this 2nd room, as well as outside of it, down with you to place them onto the spoke on the wall to get the burner machinery working again. The last cogwheel is in the last room, where you complete everything to get the machine running.

4. You will need to get coal from the small room filled with it and place some into the burner so you can start the elevator system. When facing the now opened up burner hatch, go to your left and look for coal on the ground to drag and drop that in the burner to ignite it. There’s more coal on the floor right next to the burner too. Now pull the lever near the cogwheels you placed and it is fixed.
