Crackdown 1 and APB developer Realtime Worlds goes bankrupt

Realtime Worlds goes bankrupt
Realtime Worlds has gone bankrupt. They are the company responsible for the original Crackdown 1 on Xbox 360 and the recent APB titles.

This news follows that of 60 staff firings last week. Reports say that Take 2 president Gary Dale flew into Scotland to break the sad news to the staff at the Realtime Worlds studio. Apparently the team that developed APB has been given until Friday to collect their stuff and vacate the premises.

However, a core team of employees will apparently be collected and kept in order to maintain online support for the recently released APB.

Further employee chatter on Twitter this afternoon suggests moves are currently being touted to retain a core team of staff to support online game APB.

So what happens now? The next game from Realtime Worlds, Project MyWorld, was apparently close to completion. It is likely that both MyWorld and APB’s online support will be sold off and picked up by another publisher.

MyWorld looked very interesting, and lets hope that APB doesn’t meet an early demise.
