Assassin’s Creed comics, a mini-series to be exact, are currently under development announced Ubisoft. They will be released this Fall.

The announcement comes just in time for Comic Con 2010, where they will be fully unveiled at a panel on July 22nd. They are being developed through UbiWorkShop. Illustrating the series, which are based on the best-selling Assassin’s Creed videogames (natch), will be Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl.

Naturally, these comics are only a small part of the upcoming large-scale promotion Ubisoft has in mind for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which releases on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 16, 2010.

“We always thought that the Assassin’s Creed universe would be perfect for transmedia initiatives like this new comic series,” said Mathieu Ferland, transmedia senior producer at Ubisoft Montreal.

“We are excited to have the fantastic and acclaimed artists Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl working on the project. Ubisoft is looking forward to showing Assassin’s Creed fans what these talented artists have been up to at next week’s Comic-Con panel.”

Said panel is entitled “Assassin’s Creed: Behind and Beyond the Brotherhood”, and will include the first full details on the comic series in addition to revealing more about Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

Featured panelists include Stewart and Kerschl, along with Jeffrey Johalem (scriptwriter for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood).

What is known about the comic series is that heavy research went into it. For which Stewart and Kerschl visited Saint Petersburg, Russia in order to get a more accurate idea of the world they were creating and elaborating on.
