PlayStation Network now with 50 million registered users
The PlayStation Network is a major success, touted Sony at their E3 2010 Press Conference by revealing some pretty staggering numbers.

Most important of all, Sony says that the PlayStation Network, or PSN, now has over 50 million registered users across the globe for both the PS3 and PSP versions of the service. Fiddy million is definitely not something to scoff at.

Driving that point home, Sony discussed simply how much content is packed onto the service and made available at your fingertips.

PSN now has 3400 movies and 20,000 TV episodes that are instantly downloadable, to rent and most also to purchase in high definition.

They ended by listing all the features that the PS3 can do that is driving consumers towards the system. You can stream Netflix, listen to music, browse the Internet and use wi-fi to link to your computer and access your stored media. “This drives people to PS3, not just because they’re more tech savvy but because they appreciate all the ways it connects and adds values to their lives thanks to lots of media and easy ways to access it.”

They then went on to reveal PlayStation Plus, their PlayStation Network premium subscription service at $50 a year.
