Super Mario Galaxy 3 or Mario Kart 3D could be next in line for Nintendo’s mascot, although the chances of a 3rd Galaxy coming anytime soon are probably very slim.
Now that Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been released (and hits the UK next week), there are currently no new Mario games on tap from Nintendo that have been announced.
But given that this is Mario we are talking about, you can be sure that SOMETHING is in the works. Especially with the upcoming 3DS system releasing this holiday, you know that Nintendo will have SOMETHING Mario for launch. And a new 3D Mario Kart would seem like the most likely candidate, given that “Mario Kart DS” is still one of that system’s best-selling titles.
What else are you looking forward to in regards to Mario? A new Luigi’s Mansion? A portable remake/update of Super Mario RPG? A new Paper Mario? What about a new Mario sports game like Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Slam Basketball/Mario Hoops or Mario Soccer/Strikers/Sluggers? Been a while since we’ve seen Mario hit the court in a NEW Mario sports game. Or maybe we’ll see a new Mario Party title?
Thankfully for us, E3 2010 is just around the corner (June 15-17th, with the pre-E3 Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft shows taking place a day before. And lots of news leaking the week prior). It’s likely that we’ll find out about Mario’s newest game then.
