Hitman 2 movie director announced as Daniel Benmayor

Hitman 2 movie announced
The Hitman 2 movie sequel to the original Hitman movie has gotten a script writer in the form of Daniel Benmayor. He has worked recent videogame movie scripts like the upcoming Uncharted 2 and Kane & Lynch films.

The original movie actually made pretty good money, especially abroad. The film grossed close to $40 million in the United States, but abroad it made over $60 million. So a sequel would make sense for Twentieth Century Fox (especially if more upcoming game films like the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie do well).

It’s not know yet whether actor Timothy Olyphant will return for the sequel as Agent 47. It seems unlikely based on comments he has made, but still possible.

“It’s not on my schedule. If they want me to do another one I supposed they could have me, yes… What I can tell you about Hitman is that I’m thrilled that it was as successful as it was and it was a really nice opportunity and I appreciate that opportunity.” The actor is quoted as saying. And last month he followed up with “That part [Shaving his head] I could have done without. I felt I’d spent years ducking that responsibility and that kind of commitment. But with that kind of movie there comes all kinds of baggage, and that stuff I find I could do without.”

Directing the film will be Spanish director Daniel Benmayor who will be making his Hollywood debut with Hitman 2. Benmayor is best known for his Spanish commercials for the likes of Sony PSP, Renault, Mercedes, Samsung and the like. His first film, called Paintball, is about a game of paintball that turns deadly when things go horribly wrong.

I saw Hitman in theaters and was not disappointed. I thought they did a pretty good job, and I thought the actor suited the part fine. I was a bit iffy on him coming in, but I thought he did an excellent job. It’ll be interesting to see how well the sequel does and whether it is more or less faithful to the games.
