    World 1 Star Locations

Star #1 – Sky Station Galaxy – PeeWee Piranha’s Temper Tantrum

Take the Green Pipe in the first area. Now that you’re on the other side, jump onto the hump in the center and Spin Attack the giant crystal. Drop through the hole. Talk to the Luma and use the Launch Star. On this planetoid, follow the Luma. When you’ve reached the top where the Luma stops, speak to him and use his Launch Star. That takes you to a series of small satellites. Use the launch Stars to get through these Satellites.

    Comet Medal
Jump onto the second moving gray platform and stay on it to find the Comet Medal!

Use the Launch Star on the right. Get the Life Mushroom to give you 6 health, touch the Checkpoint Flag (you’ll appear here if you die). Jump into the Launch Star.

    Boss Battle
Beat the Peewee Piranha boss by dodging his attacks and Spin Attacking his back/egg to kill him and earn Star #1!
This video will show you how exactly to get the Star.

Star #2 – Sky Station Galaxy – Storming the Sky Fleet

Spin into the Sprouts in the first area to destroy the rolling Chomps. Use one of the Sprouts to open a Treasure Chest that contains the Key. Use the Luma’s Launch Star to reach the next area. Run along the glass Tube and find a door that lets you get inside. Navigate through this area until you reach the Launch Star. Turn all of the Blue Platforms Yellow here by running over them. And the same for the next section. Now take the Launch Star. Navigate through this area using the path on the left and the depressions to avoid the Bills. When you reach the Piranha, use the Sprout to kill him. Get the key and navigate back to earn your Power Star.

Star #3 – Sky Station Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Peewee Piranha’s Speed Run

In order to make it through this Speed Run, follow the clocks. They show you where to go and add time onto the clock. This is a tough Star to get and I had quite a lot of trouble with it myself. Just keep at it and try not to get attacked by enemies. Eventually you should be able to get to the boss with enough time. When fighting him, don’t forget to run around and collect the Time Clocks if you need more time. Defeat the boss with time on the clock to earn this Star.

Star #4 – Yoshi Star Galaxy – Saddle Up With Yoshi

Find this first Yoshi Egg within a barrier at the starting area of the level. You must defeat the Magician enemy Kamek in order to disable the forcefield around the Yoshi Egg to gain access to Yoshi!

    Comet Medal
Head to the mound at the center and climb it to gain the Comet Coin/Medal for this level.

Now you need to find the Star Fruit (a spiked plant object), lick it with Yoshi’s Tongue by pressing B and hold back on the control stick to break it. It’ll turn into a Launch Star. In the next area, simply find the Launch Star to proceed. Climb the tall mountain when you reach it and use the small flower pegs to swing to a Launch Star using Yoshi’s tongue. In the next area, you’ll need to pull out a platform with Yoshi’s tongue. Simply navigate your way from here to the Star.

This video will show you how to earn this Star.

Star #5 – Yoshi Star Galaxy – Spiny Control

Use Yoshi’s tongue attack to eat the Spinys and spit them out at the glass objects to shatter them and reveal 1UPs or portals and the like. One of them contains the Launch Star. In the next area, use the Spiny’s again to break a glass object that hides the Luma. Talk to him and he’ll turn into a Launch Star. Hop in the Launch Star on the Satellite to progress further. In this area, use Yoshi’s tongue to pull out the platforms to progress and break the glass object with a Spiny to reveal the Launch Star. This will take you to the boss that you must defeat to earn your Power Star reward. To defeat this giant Lakitu, use his Spiny’s against him. Beat him to get your Star!

Star #6 – Yoshi Star Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Spiny Rainbow Romp
In order to conquer this level and get the Star, you must use the Rainbow Star to turn into the invisible Rainbow Mario, and use Rainbow Mario to destroy all of the Spiny’s before time runs out. Succeed (It may take a few tries) and you’ll earn the Power Star for this Prankster Comet level.
Need more help? Watch the video that show how to get them all in one go.

    Star #7 – Spin-Dig Galaxy – Digga-Leg’s Planet
Your first encounter with the new Spin Drill power-up, grab it and shake the Wii Remote to dig in a straight line through the entire planet! To progress in this area use the Drill and dig through the craters. One of them will lead you to where you need to go. Which is up on top of a platform where you’ll find a Luma. Speak to it to get the Launch Star. Launch yourself to the next area. Here jump on the small raised platform and dig through it. You’ll pop out on top of a column platform. Make your way to the other end and drill again. You’ll pop out on the other side of the planet on one of the high columns.

    Comet Medal
Dig through one of the other raised platforms here to find the Comet Medal. You’ll pop out on one of the high columns, jump to the right to get the Comet Medal.

Speak to the Luma to proceed. In this next area, make your way to the “end” and talk to the Luma across the disappearing platforms, who will turn into a Launch Star. On this planetoid use the Spin Drill to drill into the center of the planet. Collect the coins if you want and then drill through the “top”. Take the Launch Star and you’ll land on the Toad Brigade ship, talk tot he Luma and purchase a Life Mushroom to raise your health to six before preparing to take the boss. Use the Launch Star to face off with Digga-Leg.

    Boss Battle: Digga-Leg
In order to beat this boss you must drill into the glass portion of his underside when it flips over. Do so three times successfully using the Spin Drill to earn this Power Star. It’ll fly to you after you beat the boss.

Star #8 – Spin-Dig Galaxy – Silver Stars Down Deep

Run from the “Comic Clones” of Mario who give chase to you and Spin into the Piranha Plants to destroy them and create vines. Shake the Wii Remote to use the vines. Kill the Piranha’s until you get the vine that breaks the crystal above and leads to a Launch Star. Take this Launch Star to reach the next area. Now on this high plateau, kill the Piranha Plant and the vine will take you to the next area. Enter the Pipe and use the Spin Drill in the next area to navigate through it to the Pipe at the end. Now use the Launch Star to get to Toad’s ship. He’ll tell you of the Silver Stars you need to collect in the next area. Use the Launch Star to proceed. Use the Spin Drill here to find all five Silver Stars. Collecting all five of them will make the Power Star appear at the top. Run to get it to earn the Star!

    Star #9 – Spin-Dig Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Digga-Leg’s Daredevil Run
To earn this Star you are going to have to exercise caution and much patience. You’re goal is to beat the Digga-Leg boss just the same as before (use the Spin Drill to hit his glass underbelly when it flips around to reveal the Power Star inside), except now you must do so with only ONE PIECE OF HEALTH. That means that you die and fail if you get hit once! Successfully defeat Digga-Leg with one health to defeat him and complete this Daredevil Run. Beating him will cause the Power Star to pop out, run over and grab it to get the Star!

Star #10 – Fluffy Bluff Galaxy – Hidden Star: Every Planet Has Its Price

In order to earn this Power Star you must collect 100 Coins in “Search for the Toad Brigade Captain” and then speak with the Luma at the top of the Tree to make him Transform, revealing a new planet and the Hidden Power Star we are seeking. While 100 Coins is a lot, you’ll find two secret areas that will give you the Coinage you need. The first secret area full of Coins is located behind the big tree. You’ll find a Warp that you can spin into. Collect all the Coins in this mini-game (or at least collect as many as you can). The next secret area full of Coins is found at the top of the tree that leads to the Luma. Use Cloud Mario to reach the top of the tree and jump in the Launch Star. Hit the big Question Mark Coin and collect all of the Coins that appear. You should now have more than 100 Coins. If you don’t, then run around the level to collect more until you reach the magic number of 100. Once you have 100 Coins, talk to the Luma in the Clouds (use the Launch Star on top of the tree to reach it) and he will transform into a Launch Star and a new planet will appear. Take the new Launch Star and climb up the castle structure using the Cloud Flower power-ups. You’ll find the Power Star at the very top. Use Cloud Mario to reach it and leap into it to get this Power Star!

Star #11 – Fluffy Bluff Galaxy – Search for the Toad Brigade Captain

For this Star, you will want to use Cloud Mario to reach the grassy area above the buildings. Unlike the last Star, you won’t need to go to the top of the tree (unless you want to). Follow the grassy area across the Cloud Platforms (create your own using Cloud Mario to help you if need be) until you reach a long vertical chasm with walls on either side. Wall Jump up this (leap to one side and press A to jump to the other side, press at again to kick off each wall) to the Launch Star to proceed to the next area.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal in this area. Avoid the Cosmic Clone enemies that will chase you and look for the Medal floating above one of the small points on the planetoid. Use a backflip or a Spin while leaping while under the medal to reach it.

In this area, grab the Cloud flower and carefully cross the gray blocks. Grab the Cloud Flower at the top use it to reach the tree tops. Now climb to the top of the mountain where you will find the Power Star waiting for you! Run over and grab it to claim your prize!

Star #12 – Fluffy Bluff Galaxy – The Chimp’s Stomp Challenge
This challenge will only appear after you get a letter about the Chimp’s Challenges and you got the Comet Medal listed above while playing the level. In order to earn this Power Star, “The Chimp” challenges you defeat all of the enemies in the best way to earn 10,000 Points in 120 seconds. In order to do this you will need to chain together “combos” but stomping on multiple enemies without touching the ground. Do so successfully in the time allotted to make the Power Star appear. Run over and jump into it to add it to your collection.

Star #13 – Flip-Swap Galaxy – Think Before You Shake

In order to access this Galaxy you will need to click A on the Hungry Luma that appears on the World Map between the Spin Dig and Yoshi Star Galaxies. Feed him 300 Coins and he’ll make the path to this Flip-Swap Galaxy Appear.

This tricky Galaxy is one of the coolest early galaxies you’ll encounter and shows off Nintendo’s brilliant design skills. The key to this Galaxy is that the planet is made up of blue and red platforms. These platforms “SWAP” or “FLIP OVER” whenever you shake the Wii Remote with Mario to make him spin . . . Whether you spin intentionally or not, it will cause all the platforms in the level to flip from red to blue or vice versa. Since you will be running and jumping from platform to platform, it is very easy to accidentally Spin and flip the platforms when you didn’t really mean to. If you aren’t careful this will cause you to fall to your death. That is why this level is so tricky and difficult. So keep this in mind as you make your way across the level, carefully flipping the platforms when you must to advance. In some cases you won’t need to Spin to Flip the platforms and instead can simply long jump your way to the end of the level. Be particularly careful once you reach the section with the rolling Chain Chomps, if one is coming your way then quickly leap over to an opposing color while Spinning in the air to make the platform appear as you land. This will likewise cause the platform the Chain Chomp was on to disappear, dropping him to his death. In between the Chain Chomps appearing, make your move and leap as quickly as possible towards the end. Where you will find this Power Star waiting for you! Jump into it to add it to your collection!

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal in this level amidst the Chain Chomps. Carefully long-jump your way to the platform that has the Comet Medal hovering above it to collect it. Be careful not to get hit by the Chain Chomps

Star #14 – Flip-Swap Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Purple Coin Flip ‘n’ Sprint

This is one of the hardest Stars in the game to earn! In order to get the Star you will be required to reach the end of the level before the timer runs out. To do so you will need to master the long jump (Run, press Z briefly to duck and press A to Jump while ducking) and will need to carefully but quickly make your way to the Star that awaits at the end. Give yourself a pat on the back if you manage to complete this level and earn the Star. Remember that you can use the Co-Star Two-Player Mode to have a friend collect the additional Coins and such on the level for you while you concentrate on making it to the Power Star at the end.

Star #15 – Rightside Down Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Great Crate Incinerator

Break the laws of gravity and enter this Galaxy. Drop to the bottom and make your side-scrolling way past the Flower to the switch. Spin into it to flip the switch and cause gravity to reverse. When you’re on the ceiling run to the left and jump into the Pipe. Grab the Fire Flower and Spin as Fire Mario to throw Fireballs in the direction you are facing. Break all of the boxes and enter the Red Pipe to advance. Talk to the robot dude to take part in the “Crate Incinerator Challenge”. You’ll be tasked with breaking every box within in 20 minutes. Try standing in the middle and throwing fireballs diagonally. Or stand at the ends and throw a fireball to break every box in the balls’ path. Spin as much as possible to throw as many as you can. Break all the boxes within in the time and the Robot will give you a Power Star for your work. Run over to collect it.

Star #16 – Rightside Down Galaxy – Breaking the Laws of Gravity

In this first area, use the Flower (Shake the Wii Remote to swing on it) to reach the area above. Flip the Switch (spin into it) to run along the ceiling. Continue to your right and carefully manage the gravity to make it through. Take the moving elevator platform and fight the Purple Piranha Plant. Use the Flower beyond him to reach the next area. Navigate this area until you get past the Thwomp.

Comet Medal: There is a Tricky Comet Medal here you can get by making use of the Thwomp and being careful with gravity. Be sure not to get slammed by the Thwomp, if he smushes you then you DIE in one hit. To get the Medal, go passed the Thwomp to the right, then turn around and wait for him to slam down. When he is slamming, leap onto him and quickly Long Jump to get the Medal.

Hit the Checkpoint Flag and get the Fire Flower. Use it to break the boxes. When you enter the top-down section, navigate through this area carefully (be sure not to fall off the sides). When you reach the Thwomp section, run through the first three Thwomps quickly and take a sharp turn to the nook on the ceiling where the gravity switches are. This will allow you to assess the Thwomping action so you can time your run past the remaining Thwomps. This part can be tricky so if you die take heart and try again until you pass it. At last, you’ll reach the room with the Star. The Star is in the middle of a gravity well. Hit the arrows and they will take you around. Use the Control Stick to move yourself towards the Star so you run into it. Do this and you’ll collect it!

Star #17 – Bowser Jr’s Fiery Flotilla Boss Galaxy – Gobblegut’s Aching Belly

From the start, make your way across the Wooden Ships. To defeat the Shelled Goombas, Spin Attack them from the front. Jumping on them won’t harm them since they are protected. You’ll also encounter Dry Bones enemies! These dead skeletal Koopas are a Super Mario Bros. classic so it’s great to see them back. Stomp on them to knock them out but they will reform a few seconds later. When you encounter the Magician Koopa known as Kamek, quickly run up to him and Spin Attack or jump on his head to take him out. You can also press the B Button on the Wii Remote to shoot Star Bits at him to stun him (this goes for any enemies in the game), which gives you a chance to hop, spin or kick him.

Comet Medal: You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal above the Thwomp’s head. Pass him to the left and then perform a Backflip or Side Flip (run in one direction, then press the control stick in the opposite direction to make Mario slide while turning, then press A) to get on top of him. From here wait until the Thwomp moves up to and leap to collect the Medal.

Now flip the switches to open the giant door. This will open a new lava filled area. Avoid the spinning Fire Wands (another Mario Bros. classic obstacle returns!). When you reach the top of the structure, talk to the Luma and buy a Life Mushroom to increase your health to six. This helpful Shop Luma always appears before boss battles. Collect your Life Mushroom and use the Launch Star. Now get prepared for the World 1 Boss Battle.

    Boss Battle: GobbleGut
This is in my opinion the hardest boss in the game, and you will fight him a few times on your adventure. This giant snake-like Dragon will fly after you, and then burrow into the ground. When he does (you’ll hear a train whistle sound), run up to him and break one of the five pink bulging weak spots along his body. As he is burrowing into the ground, the bulges will catch for a second before going into the ground. This your chance to run up and perform a Spin Attack on the bulge to burst it. Break all five to beat this boss and make the Star appear. Just be careful trying to break the later bulges as he will come back around for you, making your life difficult. This boss is hard so if you die don’t worry about it, just try again until you beat him.

Star #18 – Bowser Jr’s Fiery Flotilla Boss Galaxy – Fiery Flotilla Speed Run

Even tougher than the first Star is this Prank Star which requires you to beat this boss before time runs out! You’ll have exactly TWO MINUTES to beat the boss or else you fail. Sounds extremely tough right? Well it is. The key to getting a faster time is to make sure you burst all three of his bulging weak points the FIRST time he dives into the ground. Other than that, try to take out the other two weak points whenever you get a shot, being careful not to die in the process. As you’ll only have three health this time, to make the boss fight even tougher. Successfully destroy all five weak points to beat Gobblegut and make the Power Star appear. Run over to collect it and congratulations! You’ve completed World 1!

    World 2 Star Locations

Star #19 – Puzzle Plank Galaxy – Hidden Star: Bugaboom’s Back

In order for you to get this Secret Hidden Star, you will need to be sure to collect 70 Coins in “Puzzling Picture Block” before you reach the point where you’ll need to talk to the Hungry Coin Luma. As soon as you start the level, be sure to collect Coins and keep collecting every Coin you encounter. This means stomping enemies on the heads instead of shooting them with a Star Bit and kicking them, at which point most enemies will give you Star Bits instead of Coins. Kill all the Wigglers around the pegs to earn some additional Coins. When you have as many Coins as possible jump into the Launch Star. It will take you to the island with the Hungry Coin Luma. Run through the patches of grass, Butt Stomp the wooden stumps (Jump and press Z in the air), jump on the heads of the Goombas and hit the Question Mark Blocks from below to collect as many Coins as you can. The biggest amount of Coins though can be found by taking the Pipe. Collect all of the Coins here as quick as you can and you’ll have a whopping 60 Coins! SHEBANG! Once you’ve gotten 70 Coins, talk to the Hungry Coin Luma and give him your Coins. He’ll turn into a Launch Star so you can reach the new planet. Here you will have to face a hidden boss to claim your Star!

    Boss Battle: BugaBoom

In order to beat this Boss, you will need to use Cloud Mario. Carefully jump up to grab the Cloud Flower (if you aren’t already Cloud Mario) and be sure to avoid touching the water (which will turn you back into regular Mario). Create Cloud platforms to enable you to get high enough to jump towards Bugaboom as he’s coming towards you, and Butt Stomp his back! You may recognize this boss fight, which is very similar to one in the original Super Mario Galaxy just with the new Cloud Power-Up. Butt Stomp his back a number of times to defeat him. Beating him will make the Power Star appear. Run over and jump into it to claim your reward!

Star #20 – Puzzle Plank Galaxy – The Puzzling Picture Block

This level will require you to Butt Stomp onto certain “explosion star” symbols that appear on the ground. Doing so will knock that entire section onto a new area and allow you to proceed in the stage. In the first area, Butt Stomp the explosion star in the middle. This will make the platform drop to a lower platform. Pound one of the wooden pegs to make the Launch Star appear. Jump in the Launch Star to reach the next area. To proceed from this area you must Butt Stomp several “explosive star” blocks which will push the blocks up on the opposite side of the planetoid. This will allow you to reach higher and reach a Launch Star that will take you to the next area.

In this next area you will want to try and run through as quick as possible before the Saw enemies saw off parts of the platform, making you fall to your doom.

Comet Medal: You will find the Comet Medal for this Galaxy at on the wooden platform with the Saw enemies. They will start sawing off the portion of the platform on the left that the Medal is hovering above. And when this happens you will either be unable to get the Medal, or you will fall to your doom trying to reach back to the platform. Thus this Medal can be tough to get. Your best bet is to rush as quickly as you can to it (or Long Jump if you can do it without being hit by the Saws), run onto the platform before the Saw has finished cutting it, and quickly Side Flip. Collecting the Medal in the process and landing safely back on the main platform. Then quickly jump to the following platform before the whole thing is sawed off. Good luck!

In this area you will see a sawed section of a Wall Jump vertical tower fall down. This will allow you to Wall Jump up. Do so and then quickly reach the Red Button in the next area and Butt Stomp it to make the Launch Star appear. Take the Launch Star to reach the next area.

Purchase a Life Mushroom if you can from the Luma and launch yourself over to the next area, which is a kind of sliding puzzle. Pound the sides to create the full picture. Completing the picture will make the mini-boss enemy appear. Luckily he’s very easy.

    Boss Battle: Mandibug
Simply Butt Stomp the back of this Mandibug boss to defeat him. It shouldn’t too difficult to do so. Killing this boss will make the Power Star appear. Run over and collect it!

Star #21 – Puzzle Plank Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Purple Coin Shadow Vault

This challenge can be a bit tough. Your goal is to collect all of the 100 Purple Coins while you are being chased by Cosmic Mario Clones who will continuously spawn behind you and follow your exact path. Make sure to avoid doubling back on an area you’ve already covered or you will run into the Clones and possibly be swarmed by them. The best way to collect all the coins is to systematically collect them level by level without retracing any steps previously taken. Collect all 100 Purple Coins to make this Power Star appear! Run over and collect it to add it to your collection. Good luck!

Star #22 – Hightail Falls Galaxy – Hot-Stepping Dash Pepper

This level features an all-new power-up for Yoshi called the “Dash Pepper”! It’s pretty self-explanatory. When you pick up this Red Pepper Power-Up, Yoshi will get a burst of speed that sends him flying forward at mach-speed. This can make his path difficult to control, so be careful when using it.

Yoshi Egg: You’ll find the Yoshi Egg right near the start of this Yoshi level. You don’t even have to look for it, it’s right there.

To start off the level, you will need to run into the Dash Pepper once you are riding Yoshi (to ride him, Spin Attack his Yoshi Egg to break it and then spin again to ride him). The Dash Pepper will allow you to climb straight up the vertical wall! Be careful not to run into the walls or enemies or he will fall back down. If you want to collect all the Coins here you’ll probably have to attempt this part several times. I know I did.

Dash up to the Launch Star and shake the Wii Remote to blast off to the next area. This area is completely vertical, so use the Dash Pepper to reach the following Launch Star (you may want to take the left path). In the next area, you’ll have to use Yoshi’s jumping abilities to make it through.

Don’t bother with the Hungry Luma yet, he needs 30 Coins. We’ll do that next. Continue on and use the Launch Star to go to the next area. Here you’ll once again have to use a Dash Pepper and weave through various obstacles and thin areas (be careful not to fall off!) to reach the final Launch Star.

Comet Medal: You’ll find the Comet Medal on the far right of the skinny, obstacle-filled area. It is up a vertical stretch where you have to use a Dash Pepper and carefully navigate Yoshi. If you fail to reach the Comet Medal and fall, you can try to use Yoshi’s Flutter Jump (hold A in the air) to land safely below.

You’ll find the Power Star along the walls through a many curved area with purple walls/obstacles. This can take a while to reach. Just be patient and learn the path. If your Dash Power runs out you can try to Flutter Jump your way to the Power Star. Touch it and you’re home free!

Star #23 – Hightail Falls Galaxy – Hidden Star: Silver Stars in Hightail Falls

The Hungry Coin Luma mentioned above will lead you to this Star, but only if you feed him 30 Coins! It can be difficult to collect all 30 Coins before you reach him, because with the Dash Pepper it is hard to go back if you missed Coins, without falling to your death. Be sure to stomp every enemy you come across and try to collect every Coin before you reach the Hungry Luma. This might take a few tries.

You’ll find the Hungry Luma at the base of the second to last Dash Pepper run. Talk to him and feed him the 30 Coins and he’ll turn into a Launch Star to take you to a new planet. On this planet, you’ll need to eat the creatures here to make Silver Stars appear above their heads. Collect all 5 Silver Stars to make the Hidden Power Star appear. Run over and collect it!

Star #24 – Hightail Falls Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Hightail Falls Speed Run

This Star tasks you with speedrunning your way through the level. In order to make it with enough time you will need to be good with Yoshi’s Dash Pepper running and be able to control him correctly. Do so and you’ll reach the Star.

Star #25 – Boulder Bowl Galaxy – Rock and Rolodillo

This level features the debut of a new Super Mario power-up for Galaxy 2 called the Rock Mushroom. Collecting the Rock Mushroom will turn you into Rock Mario. Your power in this form is the ability to roll around by shaking the Wii Remote. Rock Mario can be difficult to control in ball form. And he wont’ stop rolling until he hits something or the effect wears off. So be very careful. You can tap the A Button to make Rock Mario jump and can destroy most objects (including the fences which keep you from rolling off the edges!) and enemies in one hit with Rock Mario. One tip is to make slight moves on the stick when rolling and not to touch the stick if Rock Mario is rolling in the direction you want him too.

From the beginning of the level, pound all of the Electro Goombas. This will make the Rock Mushroom assessable.

Comet Medal: Shatter a massive crystal on the side of the area. Doing so will give you access to the Comet Medal. Run over and collect it.

To proceed you’ll need to roll into the giant metal bridge, knocking it down and allow you to cross. Remember that sometimes it’s best NOT to roll. So use your own discretion. At this next section roll into the Bowling Pinned enemies and up the ramp. You’ll be sent to the next area. Destroy all the enemies by rolling into them here. But be careful not to roll off the edges! The fences will most likely need to be smashed in order to stop you. But that will make the fence disappear which means you can easily fall off and die if you roll into that area. So be very careful here. Destroy all of the enemies and hop into the Launch Star.

This area can be a bit tough because you CANNOT kill the Rolling Chomps with your rolling ability! So avoid them and take out everything else. Break the large crystal and you’ll get the Launch Star. In the next area hit the Checkpoint Flag and buy a Life Mushroom before facing the boss.

    Boss Battle: Rolodillo

A perfectly fitting boss fight, you’ll need to roll into a rock ball and attack the rolling boss when he has stopped rolling (he is covered by spikes, see). You’ll see his weak point as his uncovered blue butt. Make sure to only hit this spot, if you hit the spikes you’ll get hurt. Defeat him and the Power Star will appear. Mosey on over to it to collect the Star.

Star #26 – Boulder Bowl Galaxy – Rolling Crabber Romp

This Star is easy to explain but much tougher to actually accomplish. In order to earn the Star you will need to roll through and destroy each and every Crab enemy within 60 seconds! It sounds and looks easy but it is much tougher than you may think. Keep trying until you can kill them all. Doing so will make the Power Star appear! Go over and collect your hard-earned reward to add to your growing tally of Stars!

Star #27 – Boulder Bowl Galaxy – Hidden Star: C’mere Goomba

In order to get this Star you will need to receive a letter from “Gearmo”. You should get the letter around the time you collect your 60th Power Star. You will then want to return to this Galaxy to try and find the Hidden Star.

Make your way through the level until you reach the final planetoid with the Rolling Chomps. Talk to the golden Gearmo. You will need to find a Goomba enemy and lure the Goomba back to Gearmo. To do so, you might want to turn into Rock Mario with the Rock Mushroom and destroy the rest of the enemies and obstacles. This will make it easier to safely lure the Goomba back to Gearmo, then he’ll give you the Star!

Star #28 – Cosmic Cove Galaxy – Hidden Star: Catch That Star Bunny

You’ll need 15 Coins in order to get this Star. Thankfully they are easy to collect. Once you do, find the Hungry Coin Luma at the base of the tower and feed him the 15 Coins. He’ll transform into a Launch Star and take you to a newly formed planet. Now you will be tasked with catching a “Star Bunny” who will run around the level. In order to catch him, you will want to Butt Stomp the Blue Button, which will freeze the planetoid into ice. You can now shake the Wii Remote to make Mario skate across the ice, which is faster and will allow you to catch the bunny easier.

Star #29 – Cosmic Cove Galaxy – Twin Falls Hideaway

Simply make your way through the water, through the submerged tunnel and to the stone tower.

    Comet Medal
You can find the Comet Medal underwater. It is tucked into a large shell that you’ll find at the base of the tower.

Climb the stone tower and you will find a Red Switch at the top. Butt Stomp it to magically freeze the ice! You’ll notice that two waterfalls on the other side have no frozen into solid wall jump-able walls. Perform a Wall Jump between them to find the Power Star at the top! Spin Attack it to break the ice and claim the Star!

Star #30 – Cosmic Cove Galaxy – Exploring the Cosmic Cavern

The water has now been frozen from the beginning for this Star. Skate across it until you reach a Pipe. Enter the Pipe. Butt Stomp through the bricks and you’ll enter the lower part of the cave, with the viewpoint now side-scrolling. Pass the Checkpoint Flag and swim down to the depths. Flip the switch and navigate carefully passed the Eels to enter the bottom Pipe. You’ll now be at a cool section where you must swim through the hanging cube maze of water. Eventually you’ll reach a section with MOVING cubes of water. Careful swim into one and move along with it so you don’t fall out. Enter the pipe and talk to the Luma to create a Launch Star. You’ll pop out on a planet. Use the Spin Drill in the patches of dirt. Enter the correct patch and you’ll appear directly under the Star.

Destroy all of the enemies here with the Drill to make the forcefield over some dirt disappear. Drill through it to release water around the planet. Now you can swim to the surface and leap out of the water to nab your Star!

Star #31 – Wild Glide Galaxy – Fluzzard’s First Flight

Talk to the yellow Bird and he’ll tell you how to pilot “Fluzzard”. Talk to the bigger Fluzzard Bird and get prepared to tilt your way through the area. The only thing you should concentrate on here is flying through all of the rings. Doing so will release the shield on the Comet Medal.

    Comet Medal
You will find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal by flying through the five gates in the first section of the stage. You’ll find the Comet Medal before you hit the large final ring near the end.

Fly through the final large circle and you’ll earn the Power Star.

Star #32 – Wild Glide Galaxy – Jungle Fluzzard Race

This Star will only open up after you have recieved a letter that invites you back to the level to attend a race. This time you need to Speedrun your way through the level as fast as you can! The best way to do this is to tip your Wii Remote all the way down to dive . . . dive as much as possible but not TOO much. Pull back and glide to avoid hitting the ground and try your best to avoid hitting any obstacles. There is a secret cave near the waterfall where you see the holes in the face of the cliff. The cave entrance is near the very bottom near the water’s surface. Enter it for a shortcut to the end! Beat all the birds to the finish and you’ll earn this Star. Good luck!

Star #33 – Honeybloom Galaxy – Bumble Beginnings

You must feed the Hungry Luma between the Cosmic Cove and Wild Glide Galaxies on the World Map and feed him 700 Star Bits to open this galaxy.

This level re-introduces fans of the original Super Mario Galaxy and newcomers to Galaxy 2 to the Bee Suit. Wear it to become Bee Mario (or Bee Luigi) and gain the ability to hover. The key is to learn how to tap the A Button instead of pressing and holding it to gain more air when floating. If your Bee Meter runs out you’ll fall back to the ground. Touch ground or get Coins to refill your meter. You can also climb certain honeycomb walls if you’re in Bee form. You can also walk on platforms that Mario can’t, like Clouds, Blossoms and Berries. You lose the suit if you touch water.

After the level starts, head to the right. Wall Jump up the shaft if you fall. Get the Bee Mushroom to turn into Bee Mario. Fly up and to the right, pass the Checkpoint Flag and cross the purple flowers.

    Comet Medal
You will find the Comet Medal to the right of the Purple Flowers, which you can only tread as Bee Mario. The Medal is in plain sight. Use Bee Mario to get it.

After sliding down the vines you’ll cross massive berries. As Bee Mario, you can bounce across them. Keep going until you pass the second Checkpoint Flag and carefully fly past the enemies in your path. Eventually you’ll come across the Power Star beyond some additional enemies like Piranha Sprouts. Some enemies will bash you, other plant platforms will try to eat you, so take off right after landing. Make it to the final Cloud platform and use Bee Mario to float to the Star above to claim your prize.

Star #34 – Honeybloom Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Secret Wall Jump

To reach this Star, you will need to use the first trapeze you come across to reach a tall shaft. This shaft, near the beginning of the level, can be Wall Jumped to reach the top. To reach it, swing on the trapeze until you reach top height and leap off towards the walls, which you then Wall Jump up. You’ll find the Star at the top!

Star #35 – Bowser’s Lava Lair Galaxy – Bowser’s Big Lava Power Party

Defeat the Kamek as you make your way towards the end of this first part. Point the Wii Remote at the screen and press B to grab onto the Pull Star. Pressing A will release you from it’s grasp as well Z. Slip through the ring.

In this next section, jump across the platforms carefully to reach the tip of the planetoid. Use the spring and Butt Stomp it to reach the next one. Break the crystal to get a Launch Star. Carefully time jumps and Spin in the air as the platforms flip to avoid hitting the lava. Cross it. Kill the Hammer Bros. (they return!!!!!!) and a Launch Star will appear. Butt Stomp the red button.

When you reach the walking slabs known as Whomps (cousins of the Thwomps), kill the first one if you want. When you reach the second one DON’T kill it.

Comet Medal: You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal above the second Whomp. Get atop the Thwomp and leap above to grab the Medal. If you destroy this Whomp you won’t be able to get it!

When you reach the locked Bowser Door, you must use the meteorite and Butt Stomp it to break the lock. Long jump passed the Munching Skulls (try not to fall here) and pass the lava field by riding the platform. Get the Life Mushroom if you can. Try to kill Kamek if possible or stun him with a Star Bit to make things easier. When you reach the Hammer Bros., move beyond them and hit the Checkpoint Flag. Now you’ll be at the final Bowser Door. Aim the meteorite and Butt Stomp it until you’ve broken all the locks. Get ready to face Bowser!

Bowser will attack by slamming his fist into the ground or dropping meteors. Run or jump out of the way to avoid being hit by either. What you need to do is stand on a landed meteor when Bowser does his first punch. This will cause the meteorite to rise. When it does, walk around it to aim and Butt Stomp it to shoot it at Bowser! After two hits he’ll shoot Fire Breath. Run up a ways away from the blast and you can avoid being hit by it. Hit him with a meteorite a final time and he’ll give up this world’s Grand Star! You’ll now be able to access World 3. CONGRATULATIONS!

Star #36 – Bowser’s Lava Lair Galaxy – Lava Lair Speed Run

You must make it through this same level in breakneck time! Simply run as fast as you can, use Long Jumps, and avoid enemies and Coins to try and reach the end before time runs out. Be successful and you’ll claim this Star!

    World 3 Star Locations

Star #37 – Tall Trunk Galaxy – The Flotacious Blimp Fruit

This level marks an all-new Power-Up for Yoshi called the “Blimp Fruit”. Eating this fruit will bloat Yoshi up like a balloon, allowing you to temporarily float up until your meter runs out. Holding the A Button will stop Yoshi from floating.

    Yoshi Egg
You’ll find the Yoshi Egg for this level on the underside of the tree platform that you start the level on. Simply walk over the side from the starting point and you’ll be on the other side of the tree platform, where you’ll see the Yoshi Egg.

From the starting point, head over the underside of the tree platform. Get ahold of Yoshi and make your way to the first Blimp Fruit on the other side. Eat it with Yoshi’s tongue by pressing the B Button and he’ll start floating up. Use the Blimp Fruit here to land on the platforms and make it to the top where you’ll find the Launch Star.

Blast from the Launch Star to the next area. In this area you can fall indefinitely and will just fall around the log with it’s various platforms.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal for this Galaxy located to the right of this area where you can fall continuously around the log. Use a Blimp Fruit with Yoshi to float to the upper right where you’ll find this Comet Medal in plain view.

Continue along this log until you can reach the other side. Now you’ll have to collect five Launch Star Shards to create a Launch Star. Use the Blimp Fruit to reach the Launch Star. Do that and you’ll be blasted to the next area.

Drop to the lowest portions of the log’s cross-section and head upwards. Use the Blimp Fruits to reach the Power Star at the top. Touch it to add it to your collection!

Once you collect this Star, you’ll encounter Mario’s brother, Luigi. He will then become playable in certain levels! GO GREEN MACHINE!!!!!!!!! Errr . . . sorry, wrong character quote. 😛

Star #38 – Tall Trunk Galaxy – Tall Trunk’s Big Slide

From the start, use the Trapezes to reach the top of the tree. Swing the control stick back and forth to get more height and jump off when you think you can reach the next platform. Jump into the Launch Star at the top and you’ll be taken to the next area with the slide.

Remember the long Slides from Super Mario 64? Think of that but ON CRACK. And you’ll have a close idea of what this Slide in Super Mario Galaxy 2 offers. This time, you slide at breakneck speed.

When you first try it you’ll likely think Mario (or Luigi) moves WAY too fast and is too hard to control. But the key is to make slight adjustments on the control stick by either tapping left or right, or holding it for a short time. Press A to leap into the air and do a spin (just like when ice skating).

If you haven’t gotten this Star before, then you probably would do best to avoid getting Coins or Star Bits. Just concentrate on making it to the end without falling off. Not an easy feat. You’ll probably have to re-do this section a few times before you can make it to the bottom. Make it to the finish line and you’ll find the Power Star in the middle of the area, given to you by one of your friendly buddies.

Star #39 – Tall Trunk Galaxy – Tall Trunk’s Purple Coin Slide

This extremely challenging Star tasks you with collecting 100 of the Purple Coins while sliding down the Slide! Since you go at such a fast pace, this one is very tough.

Be sure to grab the free Purple Coins at the beginning of the slide, and then simply try and collect as many as you can as you take off down the Slide.

When you reach the part with double coins, make sure you try to slide over to there from the beginning of the line to collect as many of the double section as you can. This will help a lot towards your goal of 100.

During the long strips of Coins, do very slight adjustments on the Control Stick. Do not try and Spin Jump in the air UNLESS you are going to fall off. Only jump when needed. Try to take short jumps to clear the gaps but land in front of the Purple Coins on the other side so you can collect them. During the tough Wiggler and Spiked Plant sections, follow the exact path of the Purple Coins and you should make it through without being hit.

Don’t forget that you can play in Co-Star Two-Player Cooperative Mode and a friend can help you collect the Coins. This can be a huge help in finishing this Star more easily.

Collect 100 Purple Coins and the Power Star will appear at the bottom of the Slide. Congratulations!

If you keep failing the Slide a Cosmic Guide woman should appear (she should be recognizable to those who played Super Mario Galaxy 1). Speak to her and you’ll be given the option of her showing you exactly how to finish the Slide and collect the 100 Purple Coins. Doing the Cosmic Guide though will NOT earn you a Power Star but instead will earn you a “Bronze Star”. This means that you didn’t do the level yourself and a Bronze Star is not worth as much as a Power Star. However if you do manage to finish the level without the help of the Cosmic Guide, then your Bronze Star will be replaced with a normal Power Star. So don’t be afraid to take advantage of the Cosmic Guide if you are really struggling, you can then finish it yourself after you have a better idea of how to get all the Purple Coins.

Star #40 – Cloudy Court Galaxy – Head in the Clouds

This level will challenge your ability to make proper use of Cloud Mario, as creating Cloud platforms using the Cloud Suit is essential. From the start, make your way over to the far gap, being sure to grab a Cloud Flower when you cross one.

To cross the gap, make a Cloud platform and have the gust of wind from the Windmill carry you over to the pink drums. Bounce on the drums and use your Cloud Platforms to reach the drum cymbal at the top. Butt Stomp it, collect the Star Bits and jump into the Launcher Star. Create a Cloud Platform here on the updraft and have it carry you to the top of the tower.

Use a Spring Board and Butt Stomp on it to get enough height to create another Cloud Platform and be carried by the Windmill’s gust of wind. Ride the Cloud Platform over to the next tower and leap onto the top (just ignore the 1UP on the bottom half unless you really need it). Take the Launch Star at the top.

This next area has you hitching a ride on more wind gusts. Use a Cloud Platform to ride up the first and then drop down to the right. As you fall create another Cloud Platform to ride above the Spiked Plants. Create another Cloud Platform and ride up the far side. Essentially just keep grabbing Cloud Flowers and creating platforms until you reach the end.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal at this end-level section as you are riding the wind gusts and creating Cloud Platforms. You’ll find it on the other side of a Spike Plant gap. You’ll need to ride a wind gust up to reach the Comet Medal. This is located right before you reach the final structure with the Power Star.

Continue on until you reach a structure with a gap in the middle and two gaps in the bottom and top. Make it to the top and you’ll find the Power Star.

Star #41 – Cloudy Court Galaxy – Hidden Star: Silver Stars in the Purple Pond

This Star requires you to collect 30 Coins for you to feed to a Hungry Coin Luma later on in the level. So from the start, begin collecting Coins and getting them from enemies by stomping on them. Grab the two Question Mark Giant Coins during the beginning area after you get the Cloud Flower for more Coinage.

Another Question Mark Coin is found above the floating drum and will load you up with Coins if you can successfully collect them all. Use the Launch Star at the Cymbal to reach the next area with the Hungry Luma. Don’t worry too much if you don’t have enough Coins, you can find some in this immediate area. Talk to the Luma and feed him 30 Coins to create a new planet. Launch to it.

This new area tasks you with collecting 5 Silver Stars floating above the Cloud Platforms while Cosmic Clones chase after you. As always when dealing with these Cosmic Clone enemies of yourself, be sure to not double-back on a path you took before, because the Clones follow behind you in the exact path you took. It might actually be easier to collect the Silver Stars without using Cloud Platforms, which slow you down.

Collect all five Silver Stars to make a Power Star appear. Go over and collect it!

Star #42 – Cloudy Court Galaxy – Prankster Comet: The Shadow Lining

For this Prankster Comet, you’ll need to make your way through the level, which is the same as before, but now you must navigate using Blue Platforms which appear only when you are close to the edge of an adjacent Blue Platform. This means that you will need to be careful and somewhat slowly make your way through the stage to avoid falling off the platforms.

You’ll need to collect five Launch Star Shards to make a Launch Star appear. Keep in mind that you can Long Jump to the spot of a Launch Star Shard safe in the knowledge that a Blue Platform will always appear below it.

Once you reach the side-scrolling section, just make your way to the right. This part is actually easier than the 3D section before it. Just be careful not to slow down or the Cosmic Clones might catch up to you. You’ll find the Power Star at the end in a crystal. Break the crystal as quick as possible to avoid being hit by the Cosmic Clones. Collect it and you’re home free!

Star #43 – Haunty Halls Galaxy – A Glimmer of Bulb Berry

Make your way to the end where of this area where you’ll find a Launch Star, avoiding the Ghost Electrogoombas (just jump over them). In this next area, move fast along the moving ground when it’s safe to avoid falling to your death as you make your way down the corridor.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal for this Galaxy at the end of the corridor at the moving floor section, before the Pipe at the end. You’ll need to patiently wait for the strip of floor to move into a spot where you can jump to safely collect the Comet Medal. Be careful not to fall and run back to safety as soon as you get the Medal.

    Yoshi Egg
After getting out of the Pipe, you’ll find Yoshi Egg here in plain sight. Directly after the moving floor section, and before collecting the first Light Bulb Berry Yoshi Fruit.

In this next section you’ll come across the “Bulb Berry” for the first time, a new Yoshi Power-Up that is required to make it through the next area. Eat the Bulb Berry and you’ll be able to see a ring of the surrounding area around Yoshi, but it shrinks with time. If it shrinks all the way you will fall to your death, so run as fast as you can and navigate through this area, collecting Bulb Berries whenever you come across them. Collect the Key to open the way through the Doorway. Use Yoshi’s tongue to swing on the Flower Pegs at the end to swing up to the Power Star.

Star #44 – Haunty Halls Galaxy – Sneaking Down the Creepy Corridor

Make your way through the corridor until you reach the end. In the next section, you’ll be chased by a Giant Boo. Run and use Long Jumps across the moving platforms to reach the Star Launch at the end easier. When you reach the Munching Skulls carefully leap over them.

In the next section, more Boos will chase you. You can turn to look at them to make them stop and cover their eyes (classic!). Reach the Launch Star to go to the next area. Here you will need to use Long Jumps to get past the Munchers until you reach the part where you are chased by Giant Boo and his companions. Outrun him to jump into the Power Star at the end and claim it for yourself! AWAY BOO!

Star #45 – Haunty Halls Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Spooky Cosmic Clone Chase

You’ll be chased by Cosmic Clones down the corridor to make this Star a difficult one. Run as fast as you can and try to Long Jump or leap over the Munchers. If they have eaten too much of the floor you may just have to die and try again. Some luck is involved here.

The curved portion should be easier than the last section, just carefully jump to avoid falling. When you reach the disappearing platforms for the final stretch, leap over them and burst open the crystal that holds the Power Star at the end by Spin Attacking it twice. Doing so will bust it open so you can claim your prize!

Star #46 – Freezy Flake Galaxy – Bowser on Ice

Grab a Fire Flower from the start (near the cabin) and use it to break the Goomba Ice Sculptures. You’ll find a Goomba Ice Sculpture near the rear side that will reveal a Launch Star.

In the next area, use a Fire Flower to destroy the giant Bowser Ice Sculpture in the area down the hill.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal located in the area following the Bowser Ice Sculpture. Once you break that and make it to the new area, you’ll see the Comet Medal located in a nook near the bottom of the stack of boxes and cubes. Break them using a Fire Flower or Spin Attack, and grab the Comet Medal before going into the Pipe.

Enter the Pipe in this next area by destroying the boxes. The following area is a large lava pool with ice platforms around and a Giant Bowser Ice Sculpture. To make it across the lava pool, push the snowballs to create paths of ice. Head clockwise around the Bowser statue to find a Fire Flower, collect this and use it to break the Bowser Sculpture. This will earn you the Power Star!

Star #47 – Freezy Flake Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Chimp’s Skating Challenge

From the start of “Sorbetti’s Chilly Reception”, get a Fire Flower and use it to find a Launch Star in the Goomba Statues. In the next area grab another Fire Flower and jump down to the lower level. Use the Fireballs to break the snow-covered Pine Trees. Destroy the tree closest to the frozen pond and you’ll find a Pipe. Take the Pipe. Here you will find Chimp. Talk to him and you’ll play a mini-game.

This game challenges you with skating into each of the enemies to score points. Gold are worth 50, Green are worth 10. You must score 500 points while avoiding the spikes. Do so and the Power Star is yours.

Star #48 – Freezy Flake Galaxy – Sorbetti’s Chilly Reception

For this Star, the Fire Flowers have now been replaced with Rock Mushrooms that turn you into Rock Mario. By shaking the Wii Remote to make Mario roll, you can break the sculptures. Roll into the Sculpture at the bottom of the initial area to find the Launch Star.

In this area, get the Rock Mushroom and head to the lower section. Speak with the Blue Star Bunny’s and they’ll tell you about the hidden Launch Star Shards. Break the destructible objects around to find them.

Shard 1 is located by the Bowser Sculpture. Shard 2 is found near a tree by a rabbit. The Goomba Sculpture between two bunny’s holds Shard 3. Shard 4 is found at the bottom of the hill by the lake in a Goomba Sculpture and the Shard 5 is found in a Goomba Sculpture at the top of the hill. This will make a Launch Star appear. Take it.

A blizzard is raging in the next area. Slide down the ramp (or look for a lone Coin off the side that leads to 3 hidden 1-Up Mushrooms) and purchase a Life Mushroom from the Luma before taking the final Launch Star to face the boss.

    Boss Battle: Sorbetti
In order to defeat this giant threatening Spiked Snowball, you’ll need to attack his red nose . . . because the Red-Nosed Reindeer doesn’t like that, it’s his weak point. Spin Attack his red schnoz as that weak point is rolling towards you. Hit him twice and he’ll then roll much faster. For the final attack, try to hit him from the side as you can’t outrun him. Defeat Sorbetti to make the Power Star appear. Collect it to add it to your collection!

Star #49 – Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy – Silver Chomp Grudge Match

This Galaxy marks the return of the Star Ball from the first Super Mario Galaxy game. Jump on the Star Ball and control Mario by tiling the Wii Remote while holding it vertically. A good way to do this is to pretend the Wiimote is an classic Atari Joystick. Place it in the center of your palm and move it just as if you were at the arcades! Note that it is easier to talk about controlling the Star Ball than in practice. So it may take you a while to get used to controlling it. When riding press A to make the ball jump, but once you are in the air it will continue in the direction you were facing, you can’t change direction mid-jump. Keep that in mind.

From the start, roll into the depressed circle with your Star Ball (natch). In this next area, roll to the far blue side where you’ll find a Key. Collect it to release the Launch Star. Roll back to the red portion and into the depressed circle to proceed.

Continue onward, carefully jumping over the platforms until you reach the Green Panels. You must roll over them all to turn them yellow. Methodically do this from left to right and it should be easy enough. Beyond this is a wooden section with saws.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal in plain sight at the wooden section with saws. Roll into it before you collect the musical note.

To proceed to the next section of the level, you’ll face a Silver Chomp. You’re goal here is to knock him off the edge! Doing so will give you a clear path to a pole you can climb to reach the Power Star at the top.

Star #50 – Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Masterpiece Speed Run

This challenging Star requires you to make it to the end without time running out. No easy feat! From the start, make your way to the blue portion to get the key and then back to the red portion and enter the circle depression with the Launch Star. The next section is the same as before, carefully navigate your way and jump onto the platforms. Eventually you’ll face a new part. The section where you had to push off the Silver Chomp in the previous Star is now a green field of Bob-Ombs! Avoid them by jumping over them and you’ll find the Star awaiting you at the end.

Star #51 – Beat Block Galaxy – Step to the Beep

This Galaxy is only opened once you have fed the Hungry Luma on the World Map between the Haunty Halls Galaxy. He needs 1000 Star Bits before he’ll open the Galaxy to you.

This Galaxy tasks you with navigating across cubes which alternatively disappear every five seconds. The “beeping” countdown sound will warn you when they are about to switch.

In order to make it through to the end of this level, you’ll need to be patient and time your jumps correctly. So if you die take heart and try again. Eventually you’ll pass it.

    Comet Medal
You”ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal located directly before the Checkpoint Flag. It’s in plain view and hard to miss.

The final area of this level is a Q-Bert-style pyramid of blocks. Here you will need to collect Five Silver Stars. Doing so will make the Power Star appear at the end.

Star #52 – Beat Block Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Silver Stars in Double Time

This extremely difficult Star tasks you with beating the same stage as the Star above, but this time you have even less than five seconds before the platforms switch!

    Yoshi Egg
You’ll find a Yoshi Egg in this level to help you out. Look for him in the second crystal on the purple stationary platforms.

Use Long Jumps to help you get through this stage, and only make use of Yoshi if you know how to make good use of his Flutter Jump ability. He can make the stage harder if you aren’t used to him.

Time your jumps to the beat in the area beyond the Checkpoint Flag. Try to use short jumps to time it correctly. When you reach the pyramid section, you’ll need to collect five Silver Stars. Time your jumps to the beat here as well. Be sure to take a break on the stationary rest blocks if you need to. Once you’ve collected the last Silver Star, the Power Star will appear and all the blocks will remain stationary, allowing you to easily collect your prize.

Star #53 – Bowser Jr.’s Fearsome Fleet Galaxy – Bowser Jr.’s Mighty Megahammer

Your pal Yoshi will help you out during this stage, where he can eat Bullet Bills and spit them back out as missiles! You can aim missiles in any direction, but they will only fly on whatever level Yoshi is on. So to hit something that is above you, you must jump, then press B to shoot the Bullet Bill back out.

    Yoshi Egg
You’ll find the Yoshi egg on the long horizontal platform directly after the start beyond the disappearing platforms. It is to the right of the main platform, before the giant glass barrier that you must break to proceed.

Make it across the platform and head to the Yoshi Egg on the right. Get Yoshi and use a Bullet Bill to break the large glass shield to proceed to the next area.

Here you will need to shake the Wii Remote to have Yoshi flip a switch to the far right. Navigate along the path until you come across another glass barrier, which you can break with a Bullet Bill from Yoshi’s mouth. Take the Launch Star on the far side. Use the Flower Pegs to flip up to the platform. When you come across another glass shield, backtrack to find a Bullet Bill and use it to break the shield open and hit the switch.

Ride the platforms and stop on the ships if you want. The platforms will keep coming so don’t worry about stopping on a ship, you won’t get stuck.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal located on the second wooden ship with the Hammer Bros. It’s to the left side of the ship.

Break the final glass barrier with a Bullet Bill to release the Launch Star. Take it and get a Life Mushroom from the Hungry Luma. Prepare for the boss.

Boss Battle: Bowser’s Jr.’s Mega Hammer Robot
In order to defeat this boss, you will need to use the Bullet Bills he shoots to break the blue glass orbs on his front and back.

    Yoshi Egg
You’ll find Yoshi Eggs during this boss battle to the left and to the right. They are required to beat the boss by licking the Bullet Bills and shooting them back out at the boss’s weak spots.

Once you have broken the glass orbs on his front, the boss will go into a new mode where he shoots tons of Bullet Bills at you. Grab one as soon as possible and use a Launch Star. This will shoot you over to the other side where you can try and target the glass orb weakpoint on the boss’ back before he turns back around.

For the final section, you will need to target the top of the mech where Bowser Jr. thinks he is protected. To hit the head, you will need to wait until the robot bends down, time your attack and jump up and shoot a Bullet Bill at him to hit the glass. Use Yoshi’s Flutter Jump to make it over the to Laser Rings from the MegaHammer fists. Defeat him and you’ll earn a Grand Star! WOOT!

    Star #54 – Bowser Jr.’s Fearsome Fleet Galaxy – Megahammer’s Daredevil Bash

This extremely tough Star requires you to beat the Megahammer boss with only ONE piece of energy! That means one hit from the boss and you are dead. This is extremely tough, but use the same tactics as the Star above and do your best to avoid being hit by the robot’s fists, laser rings, or Bullet Bills. Defeat him to earn the final Star for World 3! CONGRATULATIONS!

    World 4 Star Locations

Star #55 – Supermassive Galaxy – Huge Trouble With Big Wigglers

Remember the fourth World in Super Mario Bros. 3? Those who have played that classic will recall that World 4 started off with a super unique, totally awesome stage that featured MASSIVE versions of all enemies and objects. So Goombas were super huge, pipes were super huge, Question Mark Blocks and Coins were super huge, everything was blown up to amazing proportions. Which really impressed back in the day and made the level one of most fondly remembered. Well, Nintendo has done it again! BROUGHT BACK THE MASSIVE!

Just like that classic level, this Galaxy has everything blown up to massive size and it is by far one of the coolest levels yet. Gave me goosebumps just seeing it!

To start the level off, take note that you can kill the Goombas by Spin Attacking them, but most other enemies in the stage like Piranha Plants and Thwomps, are invincible.

    Comet Medal
You will find the Comet Medal for the Super Massive Galaxy right off the bat. You’ll find it hovering in the air between two blocks. Simply do a Long Jump to collect it.

Continue on the level by Wall Jumping up the massive spinning coin at the end of the first section to reach the top of the block. Carefully cross the Pipes by hanging on the outer edge to avoid getting hit by the Massive Piranha Plants. Avoid being tempted by the Question Mark Blocks in the middle of the Pipes if you can resist them. The final Pipe is a lift, stand on the outer edge to be taken to the next section of the level.

You’ll find a sign (er, TV) here that will teach you the Long Jump if you talk to it (you should already be well acquainted with the Long Jump though by this point), but the sign also does something else…

    Infinite Lives Secret Trick
You may notice that there is a 1-Up Mushroom floating above the gap between the block with the Tip Network TV and the next block. Long Jump over this gap to collect the 1UP and then Long Jump back and speak to the TV. The TV will show you how to perform the Long Jump via a short “Tip Network” video. When that is over, you’ll notice that the 1-Up Mushroom has returned! You can now collect the 1-Up and talk to the TV and it’ll return again! This 1-Up Mushroom will respawn indefinitely, keep collecting it for Infinite Lives! Neat, eh!

Continue on the path and you will encounter two MASSIVE Thwomps! Be sure not to get squashed because one squishing from a Thwomp means certain death (much less squishing from a massive Thwomp. Which is like death times a billion). Run passed the first Thwomp and stop at the gap in the middle before continuing on passed the second Thwomp (if you want, you can Wall Jump between them to the top to find a 1-Up Mushroom. Apparently Nintendo didn’t expect you to figure out the Infinite Lives trick). Wall Jump off the final Thwomp and to the Launch Star to proceed.

You’ll land on a planetoid with three walking Massive Koopa Troopas and a Spin Drill Power-Up. Grab the Drill and time your digs so that you drill from one side of the planetoid to the other, hitting the Koopa’s from under in the process (shake the Wii Remote to dig with the Spin Drill). Destroy all three Koopas and a Launch Star will appear.

Continue on by carefully jumping on the yellow triangle platforms in this next area. You can Spin Attack the Goombas to kill them or just avoid them. Collect the Question Mark Coin to make several rows of Coins appear between two blocks, and Long Jump to collect them all to earn a 1UP if you feel like it.

The next area will have you crossing several disappearing yellow platforms. Don’t stand on the middle one because it will plummet downward. Make it to the block at the end and take the Launch Star.

You’ll land on a small planetoid with sprouting flowers. Ignore making flowers appear for now and just take the Launch Star.

For the final section, carefully navigate your way by running in between the Wigglers and up the shaft to the piece of the cylinder that connects to the next section. You can also Long Jump to the next section which is a lot quicker, but you need to be sure to carefully time a Spin at the end of your jump (shake the Wii Remote) or you may fall to your doom trying to cross.

For the final section with the rampaging angry Massive Wigglers, you may want to use the Long Jump technique so you can quickly make it to the final platform which has the Power Star at the top of the Flagpole.

Star #56 – Supermassive Galaxy – Hidden Star: In Full Bloom

Remember the small planetoid where the flowers pop up as you run around it that I told you to ignore in the Star above? The reason for that ignore-ness that I commanded, was due to the fact that those flowers are the key to getting THIS Star.

So make your way through the level and play until you reach the small planetoid where the flowers sprout as you walk (it appears as the second to last section of the level, just before the stone cylinder with the Massive Wigglers).

In order to to make this Star appear, you must walk around the planet until every part of it is covered in flowers. This will make a “Sproutle Vine” appear. Shake the Wii Remote to climb the vine and it’ll lead you to the Power Star on the end of the vine.

Star #57 – Supermassive Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Big Wigglers Speed Run

This Star isn’t too hard to get. It is simply a SpeedRun of the stage. You must reach the end with time on the clock.

The easiest way to do this is to avoid all Coins and enemies as best you can. Be careful on the pipes with the Piranha Plants and try to Long Jump to the other side of the pipe before they come up instead of making your way slowly around the perimeter.

When you reach the Wiggler section, try to Long Jump to each section of the cylinder, using a Spin at the end of your jump to safely make it to the other side. Grab the Power Star at the top of the pole if you make it to the end alive.

Star #58 – Flipsville Galaxy – Flip Flopping in Flipsville

This level will have you Butt Stomping red Flip Gates on the ground that will take you to the underside of the platform you are on. Gravity follows you so don’t run off the edge of this level or you will fall to your doom.

You can kill the Glamdozer enemies that run across the Flip Gates by Butt Stomping them from their underside. Make your way counterclockwise around this giant house in the sky, using the Flip Gates to pass to the underside and then to the topside as you make your way through.

    Comet Medal
You’ll discover the Comet Medal on the underside of the room/platform that has the Teleporter. Carefully walk under the Comet Medal Coin and perform a backflip to get it.

Eventually you’ll reach a room on the underside that has a “hole” that drops you upwards. This part can be confusing because it’s not exactly clear if dropping off here will kill you or not. It won’t, this is where you are supposed to go. Walk off the ledge and into the hole and you will “drop upwards” to a Launch Star at the top of the house.

In this next area, avoid the area with the rolling Chomps.

Take the Flip Gate and cross to the depression. Use it to allow the Chomp to pass safely over you without getting hit by it. Get the Life Mushroom if you can (don’t stay in the hole too long) and continue onward, using the grass patches as safe points. Reach the Launch Star at the end.

For this next section, you’ll need to use the Flip Gates on the moving platforms to flip to the other side to avoid being hit by the spikes on the big red spiked block. Reach the Launch Star at the end and take it. Buy a Life Mushroom from the Luma here and prepare for the boss fight.

    Boss Battle: Glamdozer
This tough boss battle has you facing off against a giant Glamdozer enemy. The key to attacking this enemy is to, naturally, use the Flip Gates to hit him from the underside. If the Glamdozer isn’t on a gate, stand on a nearby gate he is facing and he will move to it after attacking you. Try to stay on the underside where you are safer, and hit him with three attacks from below to take him out. Beating him will make the Power Star appear. Run over and collect it and it’s yours!

    Star #59 – Flipsville Galaxy – Flipsville’s New Digs

This level has gotten a “Home Makeover” and now features patches of dirt in place of Flip Gates. So instead of Butt Stomping to get to the other side, you will be getting a Spin Drill, which you can use to dig to the other side by drilling on the patches of dirt.

Like for the last Star, dig your way through the house in a counterclockwise manner. Take the Launch Star when you reach it to get to the next planet.

Here there are towers of dirt that you will need to drill through to eventually reach a Pipe on a lower dirt tower that you will need to jump down diagonally to reach. Enter the Pipe.

You’ll pop out at a side-scrolling section. Here you will encounter gravity that will switch based on a timer. You can listen to figure out when it will switch (and use the arrows). Each of the nine squares each feature a different gravitational pull. Your goal here is to collect all five of the Silver Stars, which are primarily located in the corners. Collect them to make the Power Star appear, and navigate your way to the central square to collect the Star.

Star #60 – Flipsville Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Purple Coin Spin Speed Run

This Star tasks you with collecting 100 Purple Coins in the section with the different gravity pulls for all the squares. While it may seem difficult, it’s actually not that hard to collect all 100 Purple Coins in the time allotted (2:30), because the gravity will, for the most part, carry you into most of the Coins. Use some creative Wall Jumps and Spins to reach the rest of the Purple Coins. Do so and a Power Star will appear in the center square for you to collect.

Star #61 – Starshine Beach Galaxy – Surf, Sand and Silver Stars

From the start, swim to the Launch Star in the center to reach the next area. You must now get all five Silver Stars spread throughout the area to proceed.

    Yoshi Egg
You’ll find a Yoshi Egg straight on from the start of the level (after landing from the Launch Star in the water sphere above). It will be sitting in plain view on the second island a little beyond the blue Pianta character.

Silver Star #1 is located up the ramp. Use Yoshi to lick a Spiny and spit him out at the glass container to bust it open and get it. Silver Star #2 is found at the giant stone Pianta statue. Use Yoshi to swing on the Flower Pegs to get it. Silver Coin #3 is located across deep pool of water. Use a Dash Pepper with Yoshi to speed along the top of the water to grab it easier.

In the same body of water you’ll find Silver Star #4 hovering above a floating object in the water that kind of looks like a cake. Stand on the edges to make the middle of the object point straight up, and leap to reach the Silver Star (or Flutter Jump if you have Yoshi). Silver Star #5 is located by the tower near where the Lakitu and Spinys are. Grab a Spiny and use it to break the Glass Object at the base of the tower, which holds a Blimp Fruit. Eat it and float Yoshi up to the top of the tower. Collect the fifth Silver Star to make the Power Star appear near the Pianta Statue. Run and collect it to get your prize!

    Comet Medal
This Galaxy’s Comet Medal is found within the deep pool of water. There is a tube full of deadly eels within a dark tunnel underwater. The Comet Medal is in here.

Star #62 – Starshine Beach Galaxy – Climbing the Cloudy Tower

From the start, go to the pool of water and swim to the bottom. You’ll find a tunnel that you can swim into that will lead you to the top of the tower. Butt Stomp the button to make the crucial Cloud Flower appear, which is needed to complete this level. Use the Bubble Canon to hitch a ride over to the Cloud Flower.

You need to climb the stone tower in the center of the pond. Since you can’t touch water as Cloud Mario, run to the back of the tower and create Cloud Platforms to get onto it. Create Cloud Platforms and ascend to the top of the tower where the Power Star awaits you.

Star #63 – Starshine Beach Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Purple Coin Beach Dash

The challenge of this Prankster Comet is to collect 100 Purple Coins within 35 seconds! Which would be impossible if it weren’t for the Dash Pepper. Get Yoshi and the Dash Pepper as soon as possible because time starts ticking as soon as the stage starts.

Head towards the Purple Coins and stay in long straight lines to get as many as you can. Use Yoshi’s tongue to collect the Dash Peppers and try to keep collecting them without letting one run out.

Get 100 and the Power Star will appear.

Star #64 – Chompworks Galaxy – Where the Chomps are Made of Gold

This level has you guiding Rolling Chomps into ring depressions in the floor. As soon as the stage starts head towards the Comet Medal.

    Comet Medal
You will find this Comet Medal Coin floating above an assembly line of Rolling Chomps near the start of the level. Get it by timing your jump before another Chomp comes rolling in .

The first area’s goal is to get the Chomp to his ring. You’ll find a switch to your left that you need to press. This will cause the Chomps to roll down the ramp and hit an obstacle below. To allow them to pass the obstacle, you need to stand on it until a Chomp rolls over it, then move out of the way to allow the Chomp to continue on his path towards the ring. Once he enters the ring and the depression, a Launch Star will appear. Take it.

In this next section make it to the Launch Star at the end by using the platforms on the side. For this next area, you need to guide the Chomps to the ring on the far right. To do so, hit the switch on the left to start the Chomps rolling. Now tilt the green platform so the Chomp rolls onto it. Next Spin to make the red panels appear so they can carry the Chomp (be careful not to fall when doing this). Let the Chomp roll across and then spin again so he continues onto the blue platforms. Once he reaches the ring, take the Launch Star.

In this next section, destroy the enemies first. Now head to the Gold Chomp. Your goal is to guide him to his ring. First stand on the green and blue platform to let the Chomp onto it. Quickly move out of his way and run ahead so you can do the same for the next platform. Now wall jump towards the screen and dash to the next platform and the Blue Button, Butt Stomp it as the Chomp rolls onto the front. This will raise it up so the Chomp can reach the platform above. This will lead the Chomp to his ring and he will burst into the Power Star!

Star #65 – Chompworks Galaxy – Spring into the Chompworks

This level features the debut of Spring Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2, which fans will remember from the first Super Mario Galaxy game. This Power-Up allows you to make Mario jump extra high into the air, but the down side is that he is very hard and awkward to control, since he continuously bounces. You need to press A as he is landing from a spring to cause him to jump much higher than normal due to his momentum. Be sure you are moving in the direction you intend to go before jumping though, as you can’t control Spring Mario once he is in the air.

From the beginning, get the Spring Mushroom to turn into Spring Mario and head towards the Launch Star. Use his new power to leap over the Chomps in the next area. Following this is some smaller Chomps. Get passed them to the Launch Star.

Now you will need to Spring Jump up the platforms. Push towards your goal well ahead of jumping to make this part easier. For the turning bolts section, jump as soon as you touch down on the them to avoid plummeting far below and losing your progress. At the top is the Power Star you seek.

Star #66 – Chompworks Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks

Take a single path through the level to avoid being hit by the Cosmic Clones that chase you. This can make the level quite tough. That’s because you still need to guide the Golden Chomp to his ring.

From the start, Long Jump across the far right or left side to the Golden Chomp spawn area, then take the middle path back. Now press down the first platform that blocks the Chomp and slowly move across it so you don’t run into the Cosmic Clones.

Now run around the path, leaping over the Goombas. Be just ahead of the Chomp when you reach the next platform and hopefully you’ll have enough time to hold the platform down for the Chomp. After this, slowly make your way towards the screen while holding the platform down, then Long Jump to reach the next platform.

Finally, slowly circle to the final button to avoid running into the Clones and wait until the Chomp gets closer to the platform. Butt Stomp the button when the Chomp is on the first section of the platform to raise it. This will lead him to the goal and earn you the Power Star!

Star #67 – Sweet Mystery Galaxy – Bulb Berry’s Mysterious Glow

The Bulb Berry returns for Yoshi in this Galaxy. Grab it from the beginning after getting your green dino buddy and quickly make your way through the level, grabbing the Bulb Berry’s as soon as you encounter them to keep Yoshi glowing so you don’t fall to your death.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find this Galaxy’s Comet Medal located at a curved path. You’ll find it to the right and across some platforms. The Medal is before you leap over to the dual candy bar platform.

When you reach the area with the Pink enemies, they will attach to Yoshi, shake the Wii Remote to get them off. When you reach the Flower Pegs, take them to reach a high Bulb Berry and the next area. There will be a large rectangle platform with blue panels that you need to turn yellow. Do so to make the Launch Star appear. Take it.

This will lead to cake stacks that you need to climb, and they are only seen with the power of the Bulb Berry. At the top of the cakes you’ll find the Power Star!

Star #68 – Sweet Mystery Galaxy – Bulb Berry’s Purple Coin Glow

This Star tasks you with collecting 100 Purple Coins on the same level. Use the same path as in the Star above to collect them all. Be sure to stay near the Bulb Berry’s as much as possible and collect the coins around them before proceeding. Use the path of the Coins to help you safely navigate through this level. Collect them all to earn your Star.

Star #69 – Honeyhop Galaxy – The Sweetest Silver Stars

Get Bee Mario and navigate the honeycombs. Use the trapeze and swing to the right. Head up the path and use the flower to reach the trapeze, avoiding the bubbles. Use the flower to float down to the next area.

    Comet Medal
You will find the Comet Medal for this Galaxy on the right side of the mountain. You’ll need to wall jump high up at this section to find the Comet Medal.

Now you will be tasked with finding five Silver Stars. Silver Star #1 is found between two jets of water at the mountain’s base. Silver Star #2 is found on the left side of the mountain above a pink blossom. Silver Star #3 is found on the right side of the mountain where you need to wall jump to get it. Silver Star #4 is found by wall jumping at the front face of the cliff. Silver Star #5 is discoverable on the Queen Bee herself. Climb onto her to get it. This will make the Power Star appear in front of the Queen Bee.

Star #70 – Honeyhop Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Chimp’s Score Challenge

This level is only playable once you get a letter from the Chimp, inviting you to the challenge. To succeed you need to chain your attacks. Do this by watching your shadow and timing your jumps between the Electrogoombas to hit as many of them as possible in one go. Get a high enough point total and you’ll earn this Star.

    Star #71 – Bowser’s Gravity Gauntlet Galaxy – Breaking into Bowser’s Castle

This level really proves how great Super Mario Galaxy 2 is due to the way it plays with perspective in insane ways. This level will challenge you by having Mario move in any and all directions in any and all perspectives.

The first section of the level is simply a manner of getting to the end without falling into the lava, getting hit by the rotating Fire Wands, or letting enemies attack you.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal as you enter the caste, shortly beyond the Checkpoint Flag. There you will find the Comet Medal hovering above a lone block as you are running up the wall.

From here you just need to make your way along the main path avoiding hazards. When you reach the planetoid section with the Fire Wands, move clockwise around the first sphere. Jump over the wands so that they pass under you.

Make it through this section and take the Launch Star. Pass the Checkpoint Flag and don’t forget to break the crystal in the center for a Life Mushroom. Now you’ll be in the final room with the Bowser door. Just like before, use the Meteorites to break the locks and get ready for another face off with Bowser!

    Boss Battle: Bowser Fight 2

This boss fight with Bowser is tackled in almost exactly the same way as before, although now his punches and falling meteors send out deadly laser rings which makes this fight much, much tougher. Learn to expect these laser rings with each impact so you can be prepared to jump over them when they hit. After the meteors have fallen, lead Bowser’s punch away from the meteors, but close enough so that you can quickly run up the meteors when his punch lands. This will knock the meteors into the air, you can then Butt Stomp them to hurt Bowser (just as in the last battle).

Like before, with two hits he will start shooting fire which you can’t outrun. Move to the side to avoid it, and hit Bowser with the last few meteors to defeat him. GRAND STAR GET!

Star #72 – Bowser’s Gravity Gauntlet Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Gravity Star Speed Run

This Prankster Star tasks you with speed running your way through this level! Avoid enemies as much as possible, long jump as much as possible and time your jumps well. You also must snag each and every Time Clock you run into to if you are going to have a good chance of beating this Speedrun (they add seconds to the your overall time). Do so and you’ll earn a Power Star! CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve completed the 4th World!

    World 5 Star Locations

Star #73 – Space Storm Galaxy – Follow Me, Bob-Omb

From the start, use the Pull Stars to reach the Launch Star. This will blast you off to the next area. You’ll enter a steel cylinder maze area not unlike the wooden one you’ve encountered previously. Here you will keep falling indefinitely around until you hit the green electricity, which can zap you to death if you aren’t careful.

Start navigating through this area, which will often require you to jump/fall to lower platforms or wait for platforms to rise.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located just beyond a row of rotating platforms. You’ll need to hop on one of them until they lower very close to the green barrier of electricity. Be careful not to get zapped and then Long Jump to the Medal and the Launch Star.

The next area is an interesting one and can be a bit difficult. You need to guide the Bob-Omb who appears “under” you in the glass under your feet. He will follow you so you need to walk slowly but surely in a safe manner for the Bob-Omb towards the Glass Container at the end. Do it successfully and he’ll blow a hole in the glass so that you can drop in. Be sure to get the Life Mushroom and then exit the area with the Launch Star.

Navigate beyond the Topmen enemies until you reach the Bob-Omb. Spin into him to pick him up and toss him towards the Glass Container to bust it.

Carefully progress by using the Pull Stars. Try to be fast when attempting to get through this section using the further Stars to pull you deeper and towards the impending Power Star. To get it, you’ll need to pull yourself using a distant Pull Star and then grab a close Pull Star as you are nearing the Power Star. May take a few tries but eventually you’ll touch the Power Star and claim it for yourself.

Star #74 – Space Storm Galaxy – To the Top of Topman’s Tower

Use the Blue Buttons by Butt Stomping them to slow time and make things easier for our hero. Use the Pull Stars to reach the Launch Star.

Head around the platform in a counterclockwise motion to Butt Stomp the Blue Buttons, these will allow you to make it through the gates. If a Bubble hits you then quickly spin to break out of it. Use the Spring enemy at the end to reach the upper section, where you’ll need to slow time and leap off the head of the enemy to reach the Launch Star.

Use a combo of slowed time, Side Flips and Wall Jumps to get on top of the first Thwomp to progress. Near the top you’ll hit some really fast rotating platforms. Slow down time to make it through this section. Now destroy the Topmen enemies by knocking them into the electricity with a Spin Attack of your own. Use the final Topman enemy as a spring to reach the Power Star!

Star #75 – Space Storm Galaxy – Hidden Star: C’Mere Topman

This Hidden Star is only obtainable once you receive a letter from Gearmo that invites you to try his challenge at this level. On the Star Select Screen choose “Follow Me, Bob-Omb”.

Use the Star Guide above if you must, and navigate through the level until you reach the steel cylinder section with the green electricity. You’ll find Gearmo at the far end next to the Launch Star. Talk to him and he’ll request you to guide a Red Topman enemy to him.

You’ll find that Red Topman at the back, on the other end of the platform. Clear out the Yellow Mini-Topmen first and stay close to your new red buddy to lead him back to Gearmo. Once you’ve done so he will reward you with, what else, a Power Star!

    Star #76 – Slipsand Galaxy – Squizzard’s Sandy Sinkhole

This level is extremely straight forward, and looks quite cool as it is a spinning quicksand cylinder! Navigate your way, avoiding the fire and hopping to make sure you don’t sink, until you reach the Launch Star. You’ll find it at the very tip of the end of the cylinder.

In the next area use the moving cubes to avoid being pushed back by the sand. Use Long Jumps to make haste to the end.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal easily in the middle of your path.

As you make your way through, you’ll reach a stone tower. Climb it while being careful not to get crushed by the stone blocks.

This next area is a cool sliding portion where your land area gets slimmer and slimmer as you go. Make slight adjustments on the Control Stick to make sure you don’t fly off the edges. When you reach the stone cylinders carefully navigate to avoid hitting them. Reach the bottom and get the Life Mushroom, then prepare for the boss.

    Boss Battle: Squizzard

This enemy can be quite tough to defeat. All you need to do is shoot a Fireball into his mouth by grabbing the Fire Flower. This is easier said than done as he will toss objects at you. And while you can blow these objects up with a Fire Flower, they will distract you from focusing on hitting him in the mouth. If you can successfully hit him once, keep tossing Fireballs to repeatedly hit him until he goes under. Defeat him to get the Power Star.

Star #77 – Slipsand Galaxy – Sailing the Sandy Seas

From the start, walk over the edge and to the underside to get a Life Mushroom. Continue down the cylinder until you reach the stone platforms, use them to reach a Pipe and enter it.

You’ll be in a new side-scrolling area where the gravity shifts as you walk around on the “walls” and “roofs”. From the beginning of entering this area, go left and head around clockwise. You need to reach the giant square wall in the middle and drop from “above” so you are standing in the center of it. If you fall take the Pipe to start over. Once you are on the square walk around it until you can drop into the Orange Pipe.

In the next area enter the Launch Star. You’ll now be in a huge sand sea where you must ride a yellow platform through the sea and the groups of cacti. Do what you can to move from side to side to avoid the cacti whilst also avoiding the Kamek’s attacks. Near the end you’ll reach a Chomp that will chase after you. Carefully lead him to the other side of the platform and hope out of his way as he munches through the blocks. Leap towards the Power Star on the end platform to complete this level.

Star #78 – Slipsand Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Squizzard’s Daredevil Run

I thought this was a pretty tough Star to get. Like previous Daredevil runs, you must defeat the Squizzard boss fight with only ONE HEALTH. One hit and you are a goner. His weakpoint is his mouth which you must shoot a Fireball into with Fire Mario. There isn’t really any special strategy. You can throw fireballs like a madman, avoid the projectiles or destroy them, or run around to find a “safe spot” (like behind the boulders nearest the boss). Hit him in his mouth three times and he’s done for. Be careful of the last hit, where you’ll need to avoid the cannonballs. These indicate he is just about to open his mouth again. Defeat him and the Power Star is yours!

Star #79 – Shiverburn Galaxy – Prince Pikante’s Peppery Mood

From the start, hop onto the yellow platform and ride it over the lava. Ignore trying to reach the 1UP mushroom or Life Mushroom for now. Do jump towards the Cloud Flower to become Cloud Mario. Now take a giant Long Jump towards the Blue Button in the distance. Create Cloud Platforms in order for you to reach it. Butt Stomp the button. This will freeze the entire lava lake! Now you can easily collect the Life and 1UP Mushrooms. Head towards the Launch Star while avoiding getting hit (ignore the Pipe for now).

In the next area navigate over the lava by using the rotating stone platforms. Be careful not to fall in and long jump and Spin Jump in the air to safely land on the proceeding platform.

    Comet Medal
You will find the Comet Medal as you are setting out to cross the final rotating stone platforms over the sea of lava. Simply stand on one of the platforms as they go around until you are under the Comet Medal. Then leap to collect it.

Make it across the stone platforms to the end where you’ll find a Launch Star that takes you to the next area.

From here, make a quick beeline through the area, moving out of the way of the shadows of the falling meteors which will create lava pools in the ice (“shiverburn”, get it?). Navigate to the end of this are and in the next you’ll encounter some enemies that shoot coconuts at you. Spin Attack each coconut as it’s about to hit you to send it sailing back into the enemy, defeating them and clearing that way for you to progress.

You will now have to proceed over the lava via some Ice Balls that will fall from the sky, freezing pieces of the lava pool blocking your path so that you can cross safely. That will lead to the Launch Star. When you land, buy a Life Mushroom and get ready to fight the boss.

    Boss Battle: Prince Pikante
This boss fight has you lobbing coconuts back at a cannon-wheeled boss. The key here is to avoid all his shots except the coconuts, which you can shoot back at him by Spin Attacking them. After hitting him once, he will fire two barrages of fireballs at you before shooting a coconut, and then three barrages before a coconut after the second hit. Defeat him and you’ll earn the Power Star!

Star #80 – Shiverburn Galaxy – Hidden Star: Chimp’s Ultimate Skating Challenge

Remember the Pipe mentioned in the Star above at the lava/ice rink at the start of the level? That is our goal this time. Make it across the lava using the yellow moving platform, get the Cloud Flower, and reach the button using the Cloud Platforms. Butt Stomp it to freeze the lava lake. Then head into the Pipe.

For this challenge you will need to destroy as many enemies as possible (almost all of them in fact) in each round in order to score 600 points. This can be very difficult. To do it, be sure to kick all of the yellow and green enemies that appear in a round as quick as possible, so the next round pops up sooner. As soon as they do pop up, Spin to start skating and spin again each time you are heading diagonally or across a larger area, this will help you to increase or gain speed. Do not try to jump over the spiked enemies, instead skate around them or avoid them altogether if possible.

The final rounds can help increase your score by a huge amount if played right. When the round with four spiked balls appears, quickly head towards the green enemy in the middle which will make the next two rounds quickly appear.

Score 600 Points and you’ll earn the Power Star!

Star #81 – Shiverburn Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Octo-Army Icy Rainbow Romp

The Prankster Star challenges you with ice skating your way while you are Rainbow Mario (who is invincible and moves at a quicker speed) and destroying all of the enemies in under 60 seconds. Doing so isn’t too difficult. Try to concentrate on one side before moving on to the other side and spin to ice skate your way to victory. Defeat them all and the Power Star is yours.

Star #82 – Boo Moon Galaxy – Silver Stars Pop-Up

To start off, you will need to make your way from a top-down perspective through a dark maze of curving corridors and towards the Launch Star. You’ll find it by discovering a lone Coin and accessing a secret passage via a bookcase. Take the Launch Star.

The next area has you riding a pink platform across some deadly poisonous liquid. Be careful not to fall in and simply stay on the pink platform as it rides you. Spin or jump over the ghosts to avoid being hit.

    Comet Medal
As you are making your way through the swamp, the pink platform will eventually move under the Comet Medal. Be ready to leap up to grab it.

Eventually you’ll reach the Launch Star at the end after some precarious riding. You’ll land in a brief but cool area on a half moon! Collect the Launch Star Shards here and take the Launch Star that appears to reach the last area.

This unique section has five Silver Stars that you must collect by Butt Stomping the red button to turn part of the platform into a pop-up book! Collect them all and the Power Star is yours.

Star #83 – Boo Moon Galaxy – Haunting the Howling Tower

Some new areas have opened up in the main maze from the start, but once again, you’ll want to head to the bookcase. It’s on a far side near some Bowser Statues. Stand near the back of the bookcase and a secret passage will open up. Take it to the Pipe at the end.

The next area features the Super Mario Galaxy 2 debut of Boo Mario, which you can transform into by grabbing a Boo Mushroom. Fans of the previous Super Mario Galaxy game will remember Boo Mario from that game. As Boo Mario you can pass through certain walls (or enemies) and float indefinitely by tapping the A Button. Shake the Wii Remote to make Boo Mario turn transparent where he can pass through walls.

In this area you can pass through the wall to your right. Raise up to the next level and make it through the wind currents. Try to avoid the enemies in the tight areas and use the updrafts to your advantage. Dodge the rotating ghosts and touch the Power Star to add it to your collection.

Star #84 – Boo Moon Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Star in the Sinking Swamp

This Star is pretty easy and straight forward to get. Play through the level until you reach the pink moving platform. Instead of taking the normal route when you reach the Launch Star, keep riding the platform and you’ll find a second Launch Star beyond it. Take it and you’ll appear on a new platform that lets you reach a further platform to your left. Ride it to this Hidden Power Star.

Star #85 – Upside Dizzy Galaxy – Hidden Star: Burning Upside Dizzy

From the start you’re goal is to enter the Pipe. Do so by running off the bottom of the rightmost platform to land on the top platform when they meet. From here enter the ceiling Pipe.

In this next area you’ll see a bunch of boxes that you’ll want to break with a Fireball from a Fire Flower. Break the boxes in a manner that create stairs so that you can reach the top of the Orange Pipe in the center.

In the next area speak to Gearmo and get ready for some more box breaking fun. This time you’ll need to bust all of the boxes in 20 minutes. Simply shoot a Fireball straight down from the ends and it will carry on to break every box in a straight line. Succeed and you’ll earn a Power Star.

Star #86 – Upside Dizzy Galaxy – A Walk on the Weird Side

From the start, fall towards the ceiling. In the next section use the pink strips to progress and reach the next section. Butt Stomp the button in the next part and quickly run to the warp pipe. Clear out the Goombas and continue.

For the next section you’ll need to carefully listen as the gravity switches. Destroy the enemies only while they are flipped without the spike and carefully plan your way to the right.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal by running off a top right platform as the gravity switches to blue. You’ll then fall onto the adjacent platform where you can get the Comet Medal.

You’ll find the Power Star located at the end. Go for it when the gravity beneath the Power Star changes to pink. Spin Jump to the right over the electricity and you should “fall” into the Star.

Star #87 – Fleet Glide Galaxy – Fluzzard’s Wild Battlefield Glide

In order to reach this Galaxy you must find the Hungry Luma located between the Slipsand Galaxy and feed him 1500 Star Bits.

This Galaxy plays similarly to the previous Fluzzard level (where you gotta ride the bird) but is much more difficult. And even more so if you are going to fly through all of the gates to get the Comet Medal.

    Comet Medal
Fly through all five gates in order to make the Comet Medal appear. Here are the gate locations.

Gate #1 is found just passed the giant hippos located at the bottom of the lava slope. Gate #2 is located directly after the second wall. Make a hard cut left then fly around the cylinder as you collect the Star Bits. Make sure you are moving slow or you’ll easily skip passed the gate without passing through it. This is the hardest gate to get. Gate #3 is located directly after the Thwomps. Gate #4 is found on your way down the slope beyond the Thwomps. Gate #5 is located beyond the crumbling fortress as you are leaving it, it is in the doorway.

If you made it through all five gates then the Comet Medal will appear and you’ll need to immediately head towards it after passing through the final gate.

Star #88 – Fleet Glide Galaxy – Fastest Feathers in the Galaxy

This Star is only obtainable once you’ve received a letter from Jibberjay inviting you to race him at the Fleet Glide Galaxy.

Read the Star above and follow that path through the gates to beat this race and earn your Power Star. From the start be sure to pick up the Life Mushroom located right after the first Hippo, this can mean the difference between life and death.

When you go through the three circular portals you’ll want to take a quick cut left whilst diving. Head all the way around and spot an opening right after the clump of thin columns. Go through it. Now go down the slope and ignore the Twomps while continuously diving. Hitting the ground here can be to your benefit as it can allow you to dive more and gain speed.

In order to survive the last section you’ll most likely need to have picked up the Life Mushroom. Continuously dive under the falling columns, closing door and airships and you’ll hopefully finish in first place (1 minute or less) and earn yourself a Power Star! Congratulations!

Star #89 – Bowser Jr.’s Boom Bunker Galaxy – Bowser Jr.’s Boomsday Machine

Navigate through the starting area, eventually leading a Bullet Bill to the Glass Container, blowing it up. Aim towards the left target with the cannon. Defeat the Boomerang Bros. (! Remember these guys from Super Mario Bros. 3?! I couldn’t believe they brought them back!) and take the Launch Star.

Aim for the bottom target. In this next area carefully navigate your way through the blue and red platforms, avoiding the exploding mines.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located floating above some blue rotating platforms. Stand on the edge to avoid hitting the mines and time yourself to safely grab the Medal.

Grab the Cloud Flower, found at the edge of one of the Blue Platforms and use it to reach the Launch Star at the top of the sphere. Butt Stomp the stone discs and you’ll make the Power Star burst open.

Boss Battle: Bowser Jr.’s DoomsDay Machine

To defeat this boss you will need to use Cloud Flowers to get high enough to Butt Stomp the top glass portion of Bowser Jr’s DoomsDay Machine.

From the start, grab a Cloud Flower and create a Cloud Platform on the updraft. This will allow you to Long Jump towards the glass top and reach it using Cloud Platforms.

Do the same thing again for the second attack against the boss. Just be sure to avoid the vacuum attack that will suck up your clouds. Once you reach the glass, be careful to avoid jumping towards the glass when the electricity is pulsing through it.

For your third attack you’ll need to climb much higher than before to reach the top. Use the Cloud Flowers after riding the updraft in order to reach the top safely. Butt Stomp him one more time and the Power Star is yours!

Star #90 – Bowser Jr.’s Boom Bunker Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Boomsday Machine Daredevil Run

As you might expect, this Star has you attempting to beat this level with only one health! Thankfully there is a Checkpoint Flag halfway through in case you do die. The strategies for beating this level are exactly the same as before.

    Congratulations! YOU’VE CONQUERED WORLD 5!

    World 6 Star Locations

Star #91 – Melty Monster Galaxy – Magnificent Magma Sea

From the start, use the Pull Stars to progress. Be careful to avoid the Pull Stars that are too close the lava planets. Avoid the Life Mushroom as well as it’s too risky. Once you reach the Launch Star, use the Pull Stars on either side, one then the other, to swing yourself to the Launch Star (letting momentum carry you into it).

Carefully keep an eye after blasting off for the next Launch Star, and shake the Wii Remote as soon as possible to launch yourself again before the Fire Hippo enemy eats you!

In the next area, navigate your way through the lava waves and onto the poles and use the tornado to reach a trapeze that leads to the Launch Star.

The next area has you navigate small planetoids as you avoid being eaten by Fire Hippos. To do so keep note that the black planets are attacked more frequently, so try your best to avoid them.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located near a long black rock piece. It can be reached by Long Jumping to it.

Navigate through the planetoids and you’ll eventually come across the Power Star. Break the crystal to collect it.

Star #92 – Melty Monster Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Chimp’s Bowling Challenge

To reach this mini-game challenge, select “The Magnificent Magma Sea” on the Star Select Screen. From the start, walk off of the edge of the level, instead of grabbing the first blue Pull Star, and grab onto a different Pull Star. This leads to a Pipe. Take it to reach a new challenge from Chimp.

In this Bowling Mini-Game, you are tasked with using Rock Mario to knock down as many pins as you can (each worth 100 Points) to score 5000 points by the end. There are 9 sections and each one has a different set-up of pins. The key is to control Rock Mario once he takes off by making slight adjustments on the Control Stick to try and hit as many of the pins as possible. For the rotating platform sections, remember to time your roll by shaking the Wii Remote early.

If you fail the first time (and you likely will), don’t lose heart. Just keep at it and eventually you’ll score enough points.

Star #93 – Melty Monster Galaxy – A Stroll Down Rolling Lane

This challenging Star has you using Rock Mario to roll through a course without falling off the edges. No easy feat!

There really isn’t a strategy other than to use slight adjustments while rolling and to try and keep Mario as straight as possible as you roll from purple platform to purple platform.

For the final section remember that you will bounce automatically as you hit the edges, so don’t move or jump. However for the final stretch you WILL need to leap just in time to land on the Power Star platform.

Successfully pull this off and the Power Star is yours!

Star #94 – Clockwork Ruins Galaxy – Time for Adventure

For this Star, ignore trying to collect 30 Coins for now (which will be fed to the Coin Luma when getting the next Star) and navigate through the first part of this interesting gear-based level. Don’t bother trying to get to the underside of the first part with the gears, as there is nothing hidden there. Continue navigating to your right until you reach the Launch Star.

In the next area, use the safe spots to avoid the wall that will attempt to push you off and make it to the top of said wall, using it as a platform when it moves out. Make it to the top left to activate a Green Switch by doing a Spin Attack. This will turn the level.

From this new “perspective”, navigate to what was the floor previously, and you’ll find a button that you can Butt Stomp. This will create a Luma and a Launch Star for you to proceed.

The last area has you running through a side-scrolling maze.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal hidden in the final, maze-like section. It is located high above. Over the ramp where you see the rolling cylinders. Reach it from the top of the hill and use the platform above it to drop on top of the cylinders. Let them carry you to where you can reach the Medal.

Use your Wall Jumping skills to make it through the spiked wall and climb the pegs. Butt Stomp the red circle to go below. Carefully Wall Jump up the rotating section. At the top, you’ll take a lift that will ride you to the top of the rolling cylinders. The Power Star is high up and you’ll need to get to the top of one of the cylinders then use the pegs to reach the Power Star.

Star #95 – Clockwork Ruins Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Ledge Hammer Trap

For this Star, you’ll want to collect as many Coins as you can from the start. You’ll need them to feed to the Hungry Coin Luma who is found at the end of a section with pressure sensitive rotating platforms. He’s at the bottom.

You’ll find a Question Mark Block here that will help you collect Coins. Get 30 of them and feed the Luma. He’ll create a new planet and a Launch Star.

In this section, you’ll need to slow down time using the buttons. This will allow you to run past the smashing hammers without getting squashed. Reach the Pipe and you’ll be taken to the top area. Here you will need to get past the hammers without the luxury of slowing down time. Do so and the Power Star at the end is yours.

Star #96 – Clockwork Ruins Galaxy – Prankster Comet: The Adventure of the Purple Coins

This Star tasks you with navigating through this same level but with the goal of collecting 100 Purple Coins in five minutes! This can be tough because this level is not easy . . . scratch that. It’s easy . . . EASY TO DIE!

Successfully collect all 100 Purple Coins and you’ll earn the Power Star. Good luck!

Star #97 – Throwback Galaxy – The Return of the Whomp King

Fans who have played Super Mario 64 will get a kick out of this galaxy which is an updated remake, Galaxy 2-style, of the second world in Super Mario 64 that was called “Whomp’s Fortress”.

Not a whole lot has changed, but some of it has, as elements unique to Super Mario Galaxy 2 have been added to the level and it has been given a facelift with spiffier graphics.

Since this level is based on a classic from 1996, this Power Star is thus easy as pie to get. All you need to do is navigate your way along the main trail to the top of the tower.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located on a platform that juts out from the side of the level, located above the platform around the corner from the giant dark gray slope. Reach if by walking off the edge above and then spinning to fall onto the platform below, containing the Comet Medal.

When you reach the top you will face off with the “Whomp King”, the boss from the original Super Mario 64 level who is almost exactly the same here.

    Boss Battle: Whomp King
You need to stand in front of the Whomp King, which will cause him to fall over trying to crush you. Be careful to leap when he hits the ground, if you don’t you will be stunned by the shockwave. As he gets ready to fall, run out of the way or through his legs and leap unto his back. Then use the almighty power of your Butt Stomp to bring him pain. Do this three times and he’ll utter an infamous quote, before bursting into the Power Star.

Star #98 – Throwback Galaxy – Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress

For this Power Star, you will be given the Cloud Flower to help you in locating five Silver Stars.

Silver Star #1 is located on the ramp from the corner of the beginning. Silver Star #2 is found below the sliding floor panels on the same corner trail. You’ll need to fall and create a Cloud Platform to get it. Silver Star #3 is nearby from the first Thwomp you encounter on the main trail before the steps. You’ll notice some coins leading off the edge and down a slope. Use Long Jumps and Cloud Platforms to get the Silver Star here. Silver Star #4 is found out on some Cloud Platforms beyond the rotating wooden “bridge”. Silver Star #5, the final one, is the most difficult to find and can be easily missed. That’s because it is located high above the tower, even further up from the platform where you fought the boss. You’ll need to create Cloud Platforms in order to reach it.

Collect all five Silver Stars and the Power Star will appear on the platform and is yours for the collecting!

Star #99 – Throwback Galaxy – Prankster Star: Whomp Silver Star Speed Run

This Prankster Comet Star tasks you with collecting all five Silver Stars, as described in the Star above, within two minutes. This shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish. Do so and you’ll earn the Powr Star.

    Star #100 – Battlebelt Galaxy – Mini Planet Mega-Run

This Star tasks you with defeating a number of enemies on a series of small planets. Destroying all of the enemies will create a Launch Star that will take you to the next planet, allowing you to proceed in the galaxy.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located on the first planet, above a lava pit. Long Jump over it and through the Medal to collect it.

On the first planet use Spin Attacks to freeze the Burn Bits, and then run into them to kick them. The following planet has you using a Fire Flower to destroy the enemy crabs. Once it runs out, you must attack their weak backends using a Spin Attack after jumping on them.

The next planet has you smashing Jack O’Lantern Goombas using a Butt Stomp, until a Key appears. Enter the Pipe. In the next area, avoid the Boos until you get the Turtle Shell, and use it’s light beam to destroy the Boos.

In the next area you’ll be tasked with destroying the Brr Bits by Spin Attacking them on this icy planet and then kicking them. The skating can make this a bit more difficult.

In the next area, Butt Stomp to launch the Monty Moles into the air, then Spin Attack to destroy them. The following area has you destroying spiked enemies, do so only when gravity is in your favor.

In the last planetoid, you’ll face off against many rolling Chomps and destroy them using the Green Buds, which you can launch at the Chomps by Spin Attacking them. Kill them all to get a Key, which will allow you to collect the Power Star.

Star #101 – Battlebelt Galaxy – Hidden Star: Snacktime for Gobblegut

From the start, keep in mind that you will need 20 Coins to feed to a Coin Luma later on, so start collecting Coins from the beginning.

You’ll find the Hungry Coin Luma on the ice planet, feed him and he’ll create a new planet with a Launch Star to get there. Purchase a Life Mushroom and get ready to face the boss.

    Boss Battle: Gobblegut
This boss battle has you facing off against a much harder version of the previous Gobblegut worm-dragon boss. As before, you will need to attack the weakpoints, red bulges, along his body as he burrows into the ground. But this time you’ll need to avoid lava pits and falling meteors and more, which make life more difficult for our hero. As before, avoid standing too close to the boss and run when needed. Collect the coins to refill your health. Defeat the boss by hitting all his weakspots and you’ll earn the Power Star.

    Star #102 – Battlebelt Galaxy – Mini-Planet Daredevil Run

This challenging Star has you beating this level with only ONE ENERGY. This is extremely tough if you aren’t careful due to the number of enemies you need to destroy and the fact that one hit does you in. Be extra careful on the “Bit” enemies and the crabs.

When destroying enemies that need a Butt Stomp, perform a “Super Butt Stomp” by jumping, spinning then pressing Z just as Mario spins. This will make things easier. Also try and use Star Bits and shot them at enemies to stun them by pressing the B Button on the Wii Remote. This will help you from accidentally running into enemies.

The Chomp section is pretty hard, just try and stay as far away as you can from them, and remember that the Checkpoint Flag is just after the Boos. Once you pass that keep trying and eventually you’ll have your Power Star.

Star #103 – Flash Black Galaxy – Jumping Around in the Dark

This Galaxy is only reachable once you’ve fed the Hungry Luma 1800 Star Bits. The Luma is found in the fork just beyond the Melty Monster Galaxy.

This level is in a classic Mario style where the level remains in the dark and is only lit every few seconds. This means that you’ll need to carefully plan your path through the stage when there is light.

Get through the vertical maze portion by using a Blimp Fruit with Yoshi to float through it.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located at the top left of the maze section. It can be easily grabbed whether you use the Blimp Fruit or not.

Make it through the maze and use the Launch Star. The final area has you collecting five Silver Stars, which are visible even in the darkness, as are certain coins or platforms. Use them as guides to collect the Silver Stars. You can even Long Jump to a Silver Star, safe in the fact that a platform will be under it. Collect all five Silver Stars and the Power Star is yours!

Star #104 – Flash Black Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Dark Octo-Army Romp

This Prankster Comet Star tasks you with defeating 30 Octo enemies in 80 seconds while the light flickers on and off as before. The key to remember is that the enemy Octo’s always have solid ground beneath them, use this to your advantage. The quickest way to kill them is to shoot Star Bits at them and then kick them once stunned. If you don’t have enough Star Bits then get some from the Bank Toad (assuming you’ve been saving your Star Bits with him) before entering the level.

Chain attacks as much as possible and you may want to vary up your attacks (Spin Attacks, Super Ground Pounds). Near the end you’ll find Yoshi encased in a crystal. Break the crystal and use Yoshi’s tongue to easily take out enemies for the final stretch, alternating eating and stomping to double your rate of destruction. Succeed to earn the Power Star.

Star #105 – Slimy Spring Galaxy – The Deep Shell Well

Hop into the water from the start and use a shell to swim faster.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located directly beyond the purple sea urchins, in a secret tunnel to the left.

Continue swimming beyond the sea urchins until you cross the field of tentacles and swim up a stone passage. You’ll eventually hit a brick wall, shake the Wii Remote to throw the shell and bust the wall open. Take the Launch Star at the end.

Go into the pool of water and grab another Shell. Use it to swim through the yellow rings. Eventually you’ll reach a final incline and make it to dry land. Use a shell to break open the chest at the end to claim your Power Star!

Star #106 – Slimy Spring Galaxy – Hidden Star: The Chimp’s Coin Challenge

This level only becomes available when you get a letter from Chimp challenging you to come back to this stage.

This level is really easy. You’ll be required to get 10,000 points, but you’ll get most of them from shining the Shell light at the tentacles to destroy them as well as for destroying Boos. Try to get as many Coins as possible. When you take the Launch Star, try to fall through as many Coins as possible as you plummet towards the water. Use the Boos at the end for the final stretch. If you don’t have enough Coins stay in this area and keep destroying enemies to collect more.

If you reach the 10,000 Point mark by the end then you should gain your Power Star.

    Star #107 – Bowser’s Galaxy Generator – Bowser’s Fortified Fortress

Bowser’s last stand is a pretty straightforward experience as you navigate your way through to the end.

The Boomerang Bros. can be a bit tough. Run from their boomerang attack right before they hop to take them out without much effort.

When you get your Drill and hit the Bonzai Bills, wait before taking off running to the next dirt patch and Drilling through it. You’ll find a Launch Star at the end.

Navigate through the cylinder filled with platforms and get the Cloud Flower. Use it to reach higher platforms and the Luma at the top. Take the Launch Star he creates.

Across from a bridge you’ll find Yoshi, use him to easily take out the Hammer Bros. and to cross the Flower Pegs.

When you reach the Dash Pepper and the lava walls, carefully avoid the obstacles as you make a mad dash to the end. Take the Launch Star.

    Comet Medal
The snaking pink platform will lead you to the Comet Medal which is located around the second Fire Hippo who will attack. Grab the Comet Medal by leaping to the left as he appears to eat you. Reach it using Yoshi’s tongue and the Flower Pegs.

Directly after getting the Comet Medal use Yoshi’s Flutter Jump to land back onto the pink platform, then use the Blimp Fruit to float upwards and to the pink platform below.

Make it through this section and you’ll reach the final Bowser Door. Use the Meteors to bust open the locks and prepare for the final confrontation!

    Boss Battle: Bowser III

Bowser is exactly the same as previous battles with the King of the Koopas, only this time more purple lasers will appear for you to avoid. Do so and avoid his attacks. Wait for him to punch and when he does stand on a meteor away from his fist. When it floats into the air Butt Stomp it towards Bowser to damage him. After hitting him twice, run from his Fire Breath until it it catches up to you, then run perpendicular to avoid it. Hit him twice more . . .

Now this is new. Bowser will spin towards you to attack, as he does you will need to navigate to a Meteor and then Butt Stomp it towards him. Hit him four more times to defeat him!

CONGRATULATIONS! You have just beaten Super Mario Galaxy 2 and will now unlock the “Special World” or “World S”! READY FOR MORE?

Star #108 – Bowser’s Galaxy Generator – Prankster Comet: Bowser’s Big Bad Speed Run

To make it through this level fast enough, you will want to avoid everything you can while concentrating on simply collecting the Time Clocks to add more time to your countdown. Thankfully this Star does not involve a fight with Bowser! Succeed and you will collect your 108th Star! WOOOT!

World S (Special World) Star Locations

Star #109 – Mario Squared Galaxy – Make Mario A Star

This Galaxy tasks you with turning all of the Blue Question Mark panels yellow by stepping on them. However you will need to do this carefully because the Power Star that appears when you step on the final one will be back at the beginning, and the course is full of “one-step-only” green platforms that disappear for good once stepped on.

The best thing to do is to try and use Long Jumps as much as possible to avoid stepping on too many green platforms so you don’t destroy a path back.

    Comet Medal:
The Comet Medal can be found in the corner. Be sure to leave a path back after making the giant Long Jump over the gap to the Coin Medal.

Remember to methodically press the panels in a set pattern and not to turn back, because if you step on a panel you already activated, it will revert back and you’ll need to go step on it again. You can also avoid most of the green platforms in the middle part of the level entirely, by simply Long Jumping from one section of Blue Panels to the next.

Star #110 – Mario Squared Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Luigi’s Purple Coin Chaos

Thought the previous Star was difficult? You haven’t seen NOTHING yet! This Star challenges you with collecting 100 Purple Coins (that’s all of them in this stage) within a limited time WHILE avoiding Cosmic Clone enemies that follow your exact pattern!

And no, those disappearing green platforms are not solid here. They still disappear!

As before, you will want to step carefully, try to come up with a path and stick to it because you can’t double back AT ALL with the Clones chasing you, or you will run into them.

Try to make your path so that you end up close to the start of the level by the end of your Purple Coin collection, as the Power Star will appear on the starting platform once you’ve collected the final Purple Coin. GOOD LUCK!

Star #111 – Rolling Coaster Galaxy – The Rainbow Road Roll

This level is pretty straightforward . . . you will encounter a Star Ball and be tasked with rolling Mario all the way to the bottom of this Rainbow Road stage (complete with the classic “Rainbow Road” theme from Mario Kart!).

As before, you will hold the Wii Remote like a classic arcade joystick, and control the ball by tilting the Wii Remote. This can be easy but it can also be difficult, and the only way to get better is to practice.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal at the Blue Mushroom ship that tells you “Experts stay right!”. Indeed, take the right path here instead of the left, and it’ll lead you to the Comet Medal.

Learn this track well, because it’s preparing you for the much more difficult Prankster Star . . . . Reach the bottom of the track and the Power Star within the Star Ball is YOURS!

Star #112 – Rolling Coaster Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Purple Coins on the Rainbow Road

This is my most hated level and one of the toughest. Definitely one of the hardest of the normal Power Stars. You’ll be taken along the expert path and be tasked with collecting 100 Purple Coins out of a total of 110, WITHOUT running out of time. Not an easy task.

While you can miss 10 Purple Coins, this is very easy to do. So you will want to try and collect all of the coins between the main road. When you encounter the red towers, try to stay in the center as much as possible. On the curved path beyond the towers, try to lean as far as you can along the curve to collect the coins.

This level will likely take you numerous tries to conquer. It took me over 10 and I still have it unbeaten . . . . Grrrrr! But you can see how to complete it in this video:

Star #113 – Twisting Trials Galaxy – Spinning and Spinning and Spinning

This Galaxy has Mario running atop several rotating wooden logs that all spin at a different speed. This means that you will need to quickly run and leap from not only one log to the next (Long Jumping is often best) but also to be sure to stay on the ‘top’ of the log so that you don’t fall off.

This can be a bit difficult but ultimately it’s simply a matter of staying on top and not falling off. You can use the red pegs that stick out to help you.

You can also use a Cloud Flower to help you reach the Comet Medal.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal right before you reach the Power Star at the end. If you save a one or two Cloud Platforms this will make it easier for you to reach the Medal.

Reach the end of the spinning logs and you’ll find the Power Star!

Star #114 – Twisting Trials Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Turning Turning Double Time

This level is exactly the same as the one before, only now the logs spin even faster. Thankfully you’ll have Yoshi to help you out.

Since he runs faster and can perform the Flutter Jump, you should be able to reach the end without too much trouble. Try to collect at least one 1UP Mushroom in case you fall off and die.

Star #115 – Stone Cyclone Galaxy – Silver Stars in the Cyclone

This Galaxy is by far the most traditionally difficult Galaxy in the game. And not only is the level itself a twisting, turning, curving stone “wheel” of death, but you are tasked with collecting Five Silver Stars on your way through to the end. However you’re often so focused on just surviving that you often will forget that you are supposed to be collecting the Silver Stars. So don’t forget!

Here is where they are located:
    * Silver Star #1 is near an Electrogoomba to the right of the start.
    * Silver Star #2 is found to your left from the Start. Be careful of the “Tox Box”, if they smash you your a goner. You can use the Blue Button before the Tox Box to slow down time and allow you to get the Star. You can stand where the hollow lands to safely avoid getting smashed or use the green platform (that disappears when touched) to navigate to other side, to avoid smashage but the Tox Box.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal hovering above a moving skinny gray platform at the section with the rotating platforms. You can use a button nearby to slow time and ride a platform to the skinny platform with the Coin Medal, and then leap towards it (carefully). Alternatively, you can spot the Coin Medal when you run to the right from the start. You can take a giant leap of faith and, if timed correctly, grab the Coin and land on the skinny platform in one go.

    * Silver Star #3 is located beyond all the rotating platforms, where you’ll see a Tox Box that rolls it’s way around. This Star is a bit up from the path that you take to progress in the level. There is a solid gray tile right before the Silver Star, and it indicates a safe spot where you can stand so that the Tox Box’s hollow will land on you and you won’t die. Either wait until the Tox Box passes you before running or run and grab the Silver Star, then quickly run back to the safe spot and let the Tox Box pass before proceeding on the main.

    * You’ll find Silver Stars 4 and 5 on the final stretches as make your way to the end of the level. Make it alive and you’ll get this Power Star. Congratulations, you’ve earned it!

Star #116 – Stone Cyclone Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Tox Box Speed Run

This Star tasks you with navigating your way through the same level as above, only this time you are on a time limit! Collect the Time Clocks to add more time to your counter. The key here is to only grab the Time Clocks that are close or easy to get while also trying to skip through as much of the level as possible.

This video shows you how to do it:

Star #117 – Boss Blitz Galaxy – Throwback Throwdown

This fun Galaxy has you fighting a number of bosses taken from the first Super Mario Galaxy. Here is how to beat them all, but overall this Galaxy isn’t too difficult.

    Boss #1 – Dino Piranha
Spin into his tail to knock it back at him.

    Boss #2 – King Kaliente
Avoid the fireballs and wait until he spits a coconut at you. When he does so, spin to knock it back at him. After one hit, you’ll need to knock it back a few times as he’ll deflect the coconut back to you.

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal at this King Kaliente boss fight. Run to the underside of the planet and backflip into the Comet Medal to get it.

    Boss #3 – Major Burrows
Butt Stomp near him to knock him out of the ground, then Spin Attack to hit him. Next, run from him and wait until he chases you then exposes some of himself. At this point Butt Stomp, then Spin Attack again to hit him. Mix and repeat.

    Boss #4 – Bouldergeist
This awesome boss is damaged by using the Black Boos. Spin Attack the Black Boos and Mario will start swinging them. From here it’s only a matter of swinging them INTO Bouldergeists body to damage him. Stick close to him to beat him quicker.

Boss #5 – Fiery Dino Piranha
For the first three hits, stay close to the Dino’s flaming tail and wait for the flame to go out, then Spin Attack it. For the next attack, you’ll need to hit his tail at just the right moment, avoiding the flaming trails, the falling fire meteors, and the flame on the tail itself. Good luck!

Star #118 – Boss Blitz Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Throwback Throwdown Speed Run

This Star tasks you with beating all the bosses within the time limit. Use the same strategies as listed above and try to take them out quicker to earn this Power Star.

    Star #119 – Flip-Out Galaxy – Wicked Wall Jumps

To unlock this awesome Galaxy, you’ll need to feed the Hungry Luma at the end of World S. Feed him 2,000 Star Bits and you’ll get this level.

This is another stage where spinning will cause the blue platforms to go in and the red platforms to come out. You’ll need to use this to Wall Jump your way to victory.

Words really don’t describe how you make it through this level. It’s really better to just watch this video instead, to see the fun acrobatics in motion:

    Comet Medal
You’ll find the Comet Medal located above the large square blue platforms in the area with all the spikes that come out from underneath you. You can long jump from the far end when the blue platforms are in, then Spin at the end of your jump to make it to the top of the Blue Platform. Then from there it’s a Long Jump towards the Comet Medal.

Star #120 – Flip-Out Galaxy – Prankster Comet: Cosmic Clone Wall Jumpers

This level is possibly the hardest of the 120 Power Stars and is in fact almost entirely luck based. You’ll need to make it to the end of the level while avoiding the Cosmic Clones that chase you. This is nearly impossible because you have to wait for spikes to come out and will encounter other parts where you can’t skillfully avoid them. Although you can slightly step ahead if they are getting too close to you, and use combinations of jumps like Long Jumps, Backflips, etc to help you by mixing things up.

This video will show you to complete this insane level:
